The Game Show Thread - XIII - 24-10-2021 I'm not sure extending HOG would work, half an hour suits it perfectly whereas it might drag if it was longer. A public HOG which I've mentioned before should be considered, I think they could change this a bit, perhaps have a monetary prize for the weekly winner along with the trophy or a round where the contestants has to guess their fellow contestant's fact but I think it would work as a spin-off, The Game Show Thread - Brekkie - 24-10-2021 I doubt it would work with members of the public other than as one offs for Children in Need for example. It's not typical general knowledge Q&A and the way in which rounds are concocted is clever (some would say smart-arse clever), so it is too intellectual for the majority of viewers. It'd be worth a punt for 15-20 episodes and it didn't work then they can leave it at that. tellyblues post_id=50309 time= user_id=1333 Wrote:Brekkie post_id=50240 time= user_id=976 Wrote:tellyblues post_id=50216 time= user_id=1333 Wrote:A higher calibre of guests or not having the show on when the main one is airing wouldn't make a difference. The Game Show Thread - Brekkie - 25-10-2021 This is surely one of the best worst answers in gameshow history. https://twitter.com/graemedouglas/status/1452661320227168263 The Game Show Thread - XIII - 25-10-2021 Brekkie post_id=50553 time= user_id=976 Wrote:This is surely one of the best worst answers in gameshow history.Still think a contestant saying Lee Harvey Oswald shot JR on Pointless is the best worst answer! The Game Show Thread - CameronYoung - 26-10-2021 Bangers & Mash on Burns' Night was another classic. https://youtu.be/AbDwNrVK0pw?t=95 Also, someone on '90s Family Fortunes answering "Red Riding Hood" and "The Woodchopper" to "Name something associated with 'The Three Bears'" always gets me. https://youtu.be/1gsLVmeK6ik?t=829 (First question after the break if it doesn't autoskip) The Game Show Thread - RhysJR - 04-11-2021 When I was just browsing around, I saw Eggheads is on Channel 5. I wonder if the format etc. has changed at all since moving from the BBC? I presume they may have lost a round/challenger to fit in ad breaks? The Game Show Thread - Josh - 04-11-2021 Yes, it's now 4v4 instead of 5v5. The Game Show Thread - Neil Jones - 06-11-2021 It's took me years to notice but on the early episodes of Blockbusters, there is an actual screen on the front of the contestant desk, presumably for keying purposes?: https://youtu.be/v_QkK0mpnSM?t=41 (from 41 seconds in) It took a while to notice too that the game board was subtly changed as well over the years. A lot of zooming in to hide the jagged edges and then they just replaced them with full hexagons around the outside around 1987. Which was later zoomed in to hide all the black even full screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcQ63_MD1Zk Not that it made any difference in studio but it did for the viewer no doubt. The Game Show Thread - CameronYoung - 11-11-2021 I can't help but feel the Lingo set would be much better if the contestants were positioned in some form of crescent. The third set of contestants are miles away from Adil and the board. The Game Show Thread - Emily Moore - 21-11-2021 I thought Big Narstie was the wrong choice for last night's The Wheel. It doesn't seem fair on the contestant when you have someone who is just there to do their comedy act and take the piss - answering It's not a serious show, but when you've got thousands of pounds at stake then perhaps celebrities who are going to make a decent fist of trying to answer the questions are a better bet. The celebs may think £2-3,000 is small change, but most people don't! Really nice touch at the end, though.
The Game Show Thread - Brekkie - 21-11-2021 After their recent talent game show pilot for Virgin Media Fox Entertainment are now filming new seasons of two US shows in Ireland - the 5th season of Beat Shazam and the 2nd of Name That Tune (the 1st was filmed in Australia). https://twitter.com/buzzerblog/status/1462090616658083842 The Game Show Thread - XIII - 21-11-2021 Emily Moore post_id=54485 time= user_id=1738 Wrote:I thought Big Narstie was the wrong choice for last night's The Wheel.
