ITV Idents and Presentation - Josh - 02-02-2022 The ECP promoting Garraway's Life Stories said Josh Barnes instead of John Barnes just now. ITV Idents and Presentation - CameronYoung - 02-02-2022 ANyone else notice new backing music to the "Tomorrow on ITV" menu? I don't know if the issue is that it's a live link down the line and continuity can only have the link volume or the credits volume? (Although I'm not sure it is a live link). Surely it should be as simple as drop the fader on Emmerdale titles and show the promo on full? Or as it's been going on for weeks, would it not be better to put the promo straight after titles have finished? The levels and timings of the audio mix are controlled by the configuration of system and the times for the events in the network playlist. Depending on the configuration it may not be as straightforward as it sounds to change it. ITV Idents and Presentation - Rexogamer - 06-02-2022 Apologies if this is the wrong thread/has already been mentioned, and I'm not sure if it's just me, but ITV3's continuity announcements seem to be rather shoddy in terms of audio quality. They sound almost... "boxed in"? ITV Idents and Presentation - UTVLiveAtSix - 11-02-2022 Just going through the current ITV idents into the regional news at 6pm. Maybe I am only noticing this now but one of them stood out, as in what the continuity announcer said. For the Yorkshire region it was - "now for the ITV news in the Calendar region". Has it always been like this with centralised continuity? I've looked at other regions and it's, 'now for Granada Reports' or 'now for the ITV Meridian News' not Granada region or even Meridian region (yes these examples work as the ITV companies were called this) but Yorkshire was never the Calendar region? ITV Idents and Presentation - JAS84 - 11-02-2022 Bear in mind the Yorkshire Television region is more than just Yorkshire. Saying "the Yorkshire region" sounds like it's literally just Yorkshire, excluding Lincolnshire. ITV Idents and Presentation - Stanley Matravers - 11-02-2022 Indeed. Ever since the Belmont transmitter (Lincs/E Yorks/NW Norfolk) was reallocated from Anglia in 1974, the "Yorkshire" channel brand was rendered horribly biased (as around 50% of the physical region is now in non-Yorks counties). The ITV plc era has largely brought an end to the anomoly of viewers in e.g. King's Lynn or Mablethorpe watching "Yorkshire"-branded output. The name was fine when the region originally equated approximately to the old West Riding of Yorkshire, plus certain northern bits of Derbyshire & Nottingham. The non-geographic "Calendar Region" references nowadays avoid the anomaly of the past. It's a bit odd, then, that weather sponsorship stings still tend to be "X sponsors ITV Yorkshire Weather". I'm sure that they did flirt with it being "ITV Calendar Weather" at some point in the last decade or two (which seemed a sensible move), but it reverted back again (which didn't!). ITV Idents and Presentation - JAS84 - 11-02-2022 Perhaps a rebrand in 1982 should've happened, like how ATV became Central? Though I don't know what they could have called it. The equivalent BBC region was called BBC North. ITV Idents and Presentation - UTVLiveAtSix - 11-02-2022 Thanks for the responses. I just think the Calendar region - isn't actually a region. On the other hand most of the geographical ITV regions don't make sense either. STV (Scotland but excludes the Border region) West Country the reach goes geographically further even UTV (yes I know the U doesn't stand for anything in particular ) but Ulster is more than just the six counties of Northern Ireland.Although it does irritate me when, at weekends, "Now for the ITV news in your region" - Geography again - Wales and UTV are not a region. Anyway, just my thoughts on it for this Friday! ITV Idents and Presentation - Spencer - 12-02-2022 It does seem a bit strange that they have to reference a named region when introducing Calendar when others just name the programme. Incidentally, I seem to remember ‘the news for the Calendar region’ also being mentioned in the early days of GMB when Ben Shephard (or whoever) would record introductions for all the regional opts. ITV Idents and Presentation - Josh - 12-02-2022 Am I imagining things or did the promo for Starstruck just now have lip-sync issues?
