Far too busy with their political satire to get nostalgic.

Yeah, he's out of contract. Couldn't have done I'm A Celeb otherwise (as he'd be taking time off from a BBC show to do an ITV one).

I imagine him mentioning it and it getting broadcast may have grabbed the attention of a few BBC bosses. As already said it would be nice for him to return, even if it's to allow him to properly leave the show.

Nice for who though - he clearly wants to move on with his life and doesn't feel like he owes the show a proper exit. June Brown left in simiilar circumstances. This being EastEnders I suspect he'll be back at some point whether in a year or ten, but the character of Ian Beale is probably one they should have ditched a long time ago really. Same with Phil Mitchell and Kat Slater.

Looks like the eviction episodes are only 1 hr 20 minutes this year when previously they've been 90 minutes so if they did want to claw back a bit of the lost ad time adding 10 minutes to these episodes would be an easy way to try and do so.

11 poor karaoke performances back to back isn't exactly the most riveting of television.

That isn’t a bar in itself. There are many reasons for time off to do a show like this, particularly as it can offer great publicity to the talent’s ‘home’ network or show. See radio presenters taking time away to do Strictly or I’m a Celeb.

Victoria Derbyshire and Jordan North both did it last year whilst still under contract at the BBC. I suspect there are allowances within contracts for certain work outside the BBC too - for example some EastEnders stars have regularly done panto.

Also, Adam has been off-contract with EastEnders/the BBC ever since he finished filming for Ian's (increasingly permanent looking) temporary exit storyline last November/early December.

Not sure about Victoria but Jordan was on a freelance contract this time last year so it might have been different for him.

Really was tedious, went on for far too long.

They also, genuinely, looked incredibly cold. I'm slightly surprised they went ahead with that one.

I agree, it was perhaps an amusing concept that dragged on for too long.

Also gets tedious when the same person gets voted to do virtually every trial... seems to happen year after year.

Yes I’m not sure why people are still voting for Naughty when he does them well and gets all the stars

They often try and fix the votes to stop this happening by making people immune due to various mechanisms, like the two camps, or some sort of game, but often people complain about that as well, so they can’t win.

Good to see Matty getting voted for tonight though. We need to see Louise do one as well, hopefully she’ll stay long enough to vote herself into doing one
