Harder to think of revivals/reboots which have been that successful. Of the more recent efforts, Crystal Maze, TFI Friday, Cold Feet, 15-to-1, Dancing on Ice all seemed to flag quite quickly when the nostalgia factor wore off. I predict Changing Rooms will follow the same quick decline after initial interest.
Ant and Dec’s SNT is an interesting one as it was rebooted after several years off….and I think it may have been more successful second time around.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? started in the UK and was later transferred to the US, running for about four years worth, being cancelled, "new" episodes hacked together from previously unseen performances and then received a full blown revival on the CW in 2013, and its been running ever since. Not withstanding the whole "points don't matter" running gag they've always had...

That was a weird one, they didn't really tamper with what is a winning format and Mel and Sue have always been terrific. And yet it was really bad. I'm not sure the full story on what went wrong with that has really been told, how it was commissioned as four episodes and ended up as two.

Masterchef (twice!)
First the original when Gary Rhodes replaced Loyd Grossman. The again in 2011 when they brought in a new format with auditions and weekly departures. Didn't work and the next few years saw the format morph back towards the status quo

Generation game reboot was strange like felt so slow and not fun it was given a Sunday night slot I think as well it just lacked the Saturday entertaining factor and seemed wrong hosts.
Would have picked Norton or Miranda to be single host etc .
Many reboots now seem over long like the 30 min length not worth investing in so stretch to an hour.
Think epic gameshow run of classics extended long shows only works as not same show each week and some work better than others did like strike it lucky but seems over long with added game to stretch it out to an hour. Think like Gino doing family fortunes 45 mins should be max length but again it got 60min run but was a hit .
New changing rooms also seems over stretching and going by launch ratings is going to struggle.
Crystal maze is example of taking former early evening show trying to make it 9pm show etc and doesn't fit but if kept earlier evening maybe at weekend could have got better audience.
Outside gameshows remember dramas, soaps....
crossroads coming back then having yet another relaunch into a strange posh hotel !
The bill also was changed to 9pm show and ratings dropped ... although seems it will be back as 8pm show next year called sunhill

I thought the Changing Rooms reboot was pretty good although it felt like an advert for Dulux at times. I don’t think it’s aimed at people who watched the original series and, to be honest, could have probably stood up on its own with a different name.
Generation Game with Mel & Sue was pretty terrible. I don’t mind them but they’re not shiny floor entertainment show hosts. Sue in particular is far too intellectual / ironic in her style which has its place, but not here.
I’d say criticisms of the Sky reboot of Gladiators are unfair, I thought they did a pretty decent job that wouldn’t have looked out of place on ITV.

Sitcom wise in the USA they had Full House a story about widowed father who had help from his brother in law and best friend to help him raise his three girls. Full House was rebooted by Netflix in 2015 with the same cast returning minus one (the Olsen twins) and they flipped the story around now focusing on the eldest daughter who has also been widowed introducing some new characters along the way.
Having seen the original I enjoyed the reboot. Writing wise the reboot was very cleaver by having the new characters attempt similar stunts or pranks that occurred in the original.

They tried to make it like Masterchef Australia for a few years which at that time was the biggest show in Australia but is more an X Factor meets Big Brother format but for cooking and as you say they went back to the way it was with some new challenges added in 2012 or 2013.
