The Sky One Thread - JAS84 - 17-06-2021 Disney XD would've made sense as a Sky Kids channel, as of course, it was originally the Fox Kids Network! But if what Ste says is true, Sky Kids is banned from ever being a linear channel. The Sky One Thread - nwtv2003 - 17-06-2021 JAS84 post_id=21690 time= user_id=881 Wrote:Yeah, sorry to say, but both Sky and Channel 4 might have to say goodbye to Homer and Bart when their current contracts expire. My understanding is that Disney renegotiated the FTA rights for The Simpsons last year and they’re pretty much staying on Channel 4 for the foreseeable future. Don’t forget they appeared on All4 as a catch up the same day that Disney+ arrived. I’m not sure what the situation is regarding pay TV rights for The Simpsons are. Pick launched at the end of February 2011, 2 months after Bravo closed. Yes but that was only a rebrand to Pick from Sky3. Sky3 still aired similar sort of programmes but was more of a barker channel than Pick is now. Until they got rid of Bravo and moved a load of content from it to Pick, so that went out the window pretty quick. Now it looks obsessed with cop shows in the daytime. If you're including Sky Three/3 the channel had been on air for 6 years by this point, hardly a quick abandoning of purpose. The Sky One Thread - OldSkoollCITV - 19-06-2021 Sky One don’t have much new and exclusive shows in the daytime schedule anymore. In the heyday had shows like the chat shows (Oprah, Sally, Jenny Jones). They tried having live magazine shows in the daytime over the years like Sky By Day, 1 to 3, Lorraine and Angela & Friends and they all failed. You don’t get any of the magazine shows on Sky One anymore. The Sky One Thread - London Lite - 19-06-2021 On the rare occasions I watch Sky One, it's for The Simpsons, a Russell Howard branded show or a half decent Sky Original drama series. But as mentioned, they have a portfolio of other channels which have diluted Sky One's offerings. The US acquisitions are largely on Sky Atlantic, US comedy on Sky Comedy and the nature stuff on Sky Nature, which has left Sky One as the home of The Simpsons and a few Sky Originals you may be lucky to discover. The Sky One Thread - JetixFann450 - 20-06-2021 I do still like that they're keeping Sky One as the one destination for most British originals and most US imports are now going to their other channels, keeping Sky One as a strongly home-grown Sky network. The Sky One Thread - OldSkoollCITV - 30-06-2021 With the rumors of Comcast buying ViacomCBS, could we see Channel 5 become part of Sky? https://www.digitaltveurope.com/2021/06/24/comcast-reportedly-eyeing-viacomcbs-or-roku-tie-up/ The Sky One Thread - Roger Darthwell - 30-06-2021 OldSkoollCITV post_id=25037 time= user_id=1749 Wrote:With the rumors of Comcast buying ViacomCBS, could we see Channel 5 become part of Sky?This would mean that ITN will no longer supply 5 News, and that the contract would return to Sky News, as it has been from 2005 to 2012 The Sky One Thread - Matthew - 30-06-2021 London Lite post_id=22718 time= user_id=953 Wrote:On the rare occasions I watch Sky One, it's for The Simpsons, a Russell Howard branded show or a half decent Sky Original drama series.Sky One also has original airings of acquisitions like Arrowverse shows (The Flash, Supergirl on final season, and Legends of Tomorrow) The Sky One Thread - Jexedback - 30-06-2021 Roger Darthwell post_id=25060 time= user_id=1160 Wrote:OldSkoollCITV post_id=25037 time= user_id=1749 Wrote:With the rumors of Comcast buying ViacomCBS, could we see Channel 5 become part of Sky?This would mean that ITN will no longer supply 5 News, and that the contract would return to Sky News, as it has been from 2005 to 2012 Not necessarily - the contract would be tendered in the usual ways. Suspect the competition commission would get involved in a takeover such as this before it even got to news contracts. They might even be forced to sell off some assets and I would suspect that Channel 5 would be a prime candidate. Is the simple answer. Assuming no competition concerns. I'm sure Roger Darthwell has a few million spare in a piggy bank, perhaps he could buy it?
