Excellent job Martine. May the prince rest in peace, and my condolences to the family.

Interesting they showed the still of the Coat of Arms while the National Anthem was being played. I thought the standard was the flag?

What the...?

It took me a while to realise that was a programme and not a crass piece of coverage!

Sad news indeed. Martine Croxall and Lucrezia Millarini doing a great job for BBC and ITV respectively.

Full obit mode for the first time since 2002 it is then.

I just wanna say you can see how every BBC team is FULLY PREPARED for reporting this kind of news... NC broke in at 1205, World sharply switched to NC feed 1 minute later... Martine Croxall ad-libbing for a few minutes as the directors notify the BBC One network controllers.. and then fade to black to bring all networks in: "We are interrupting our normal programmes to bring you an important announcement" - and then straight into the pre-prepared programme and packages. This spectacular level of coordination wouldn't be possible without constantly rehearsing and rehearsing and comprehensive technical planning~

This is the sort of news story they rehearse and rehearse for years, to make sure that when it happens, they get it right. Martine doing a superb job under the circumstances.

Quite a dignified slate going into the news report:

though the red breaking news graphics remain.

all of BBC Radio has joined together for a simulcast presented by Evan Davis.

It was interesting that BBC One cut straight to BBC News - as in Martine Croxall did the announcement over the News Report slide rather than the BBC One continuity announcer doing so. As a result the slide and announcement was shown on BBC Two as well.

Guessing it happened overnight or early this morning and they had a reporting blackout until 12pm as the Royal Family Twitter announced it at 12:00 on the dot

Eammon and Ruth cut short an interview to hand over to ITV News. I was surprised to see how long it took BBC One to interrupt the schedule when BBC Two was already airing the coverage. The announcement had a lot of echoes from the Queen Mother's passing, but I suppose that's all part of the protocol. I know it sounds awful to say but that BBC News slide is actually quite nice, considering how long we've speculated about how Oneness would be adapted to present something as solemn as this.
