No live penalty on Burnley v Newcastle. But they were able to show what caused it.

They are showing penalty incidents as well, but not much else

Just feels ridiculous now FTA viewers have to wait until 10.30pm on a Sunday night to catch highlights of one of the domestic sporting events of the year.

First time I've seen the updated version of the C4 F1 graphics. They're very nice, especially the animations and transitions, though switching out the hexagon for a circle makes it all very 1996.

Yeah, and I wouldn't agree that it needs to be earlier. We've had football highlights late at night at the weekend for over fifty years now, it's a proper part of the public consciousness, and it just wouldn't seem right in any other slot. I certainly far prefer it there, as I have a football-phobic partner it means it doesn't dominate the evening, and also at the final whistle I'm a bit footballed out, and I like having a bit of time to watch something else. And it means Match of the Day can be a bit more reflective and look at it with a bit more perspective. It suits me absolutely fine.
The one thing that would make it better is if the final day was a Saturday, as it was in 2001, 2002 and 2004 (so two of the three seasons ITV had highlights rights) because it means you don't have to stay up past midnight on a worknight and all the Saturday programmes can be in their regular slots. I always thought that was a good idea, but seemingly it didn't do the required business and it's been on Sunday ever since.

A week and a few hours until Wales begin their UEFA Nations League campaign and it is far from certain how it will be possible to watch Wales' matches in the UK. Wales was devoid of any mention from the press release/article from Premeier Sports, whilst S4C at the end of their coverage of the FA Trophy final on Sunday only advertised the World Cup play-off final (from the previous rights cycle).
Premier Sports live sport schedule says they will be showing Poland v. Wales next Wednesday (with only 10 minutes build-up) but none of Wales' other three matches are mentioned, unlike the others of Scotlans, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The S4C schedule for next Wednesday is only showing the Urdd youth Eisteddfod until 18:30 then a standard schedule in the evening, no hint of any opt-outs on BBC One Wales or BBC Two Wales for potential highlights either.
This is rather strange indeed, especially as all other matches, home nations or otherwise seem to be accounted for, and Wales is not that a special a nation in terms of broadcasting (I'd understand if it was England being treated different as it is a much larger and more commercially attractive team to showcase so would be treated differently (as it has been with matches FTA on ITV and now C4 with WAL/SCO/NI only on Sky or Premier)).
The UEFA.com 'Where to Watch' guide is living in some weird fantasy land where the place to watch matches in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales is Channel 4/S4C and in Republic of Ireland only Premier Sports. Of course, Premier wil also be available in the UK, Virgin Media and RTÉ will aslo show matches in Ireland, and nothing has ever been said about S4C.
One of thing o note from that list, is that there is yet to be a broadcaster announced in Spain yet.

With the matches confirmed to Premier Sports, it appears that all Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland matches will get at least 30 minutes build-up ahead of kick-off, with Finalissima next Wednesday coming on air at 45 minutes before kick-off and coverage of Italy v. Germany on June 4th also getting an extended build-up of 20 minutes. All other matches look set to come on air 10 minutes beforehand, which, especially considering Premier Sports track record, suggest a world feed only job on those matches. There look like at the moment there will be no matches on FreeSports, but matches will be shown on BoxNation as well as Premier Sports 1 and 2. BoxNation is available alongside BT Sport for some (all?) subscribers so a bit of a bonus for some there.
FreeSports will be showing mini football on the 4th and 5th June (whatever that is) though so not totally missing live football action.

How did Uefa rights get this messy? It seems with the rise of the streamers, they panic, loose focus on the value of FTA linear broadcasters and head for the cash.
I know the Wales national football team, may be playing decent football and capable of the odd upset, not there's no need by Uefa to lash out and try and hide the live games or wait until 1 minute before the national anthems before signing a deal with a broadcaster to show the game.
