Yeah, H&A is made by Endemol Shine Australia. Used to be Southern Star until 2013, when it rebranded to Endemol, which has since merged with Shine.

That never happens unless the shows are related, and for good reason. The actors may turn up but the characters won't.

Ten have announced this morning a deal to launch NCIS: Sydney in 2023 on the Ten Network and Paramount+. Suspect it is the kind of direction they'll be going in with scripted content moving forward.

I don't see how Alan Fletcher on This Morning next week is going to help the show, nor ITV picking it up despite what fans think. (Doubt ITV will)

Especially since Natalie Imbruglia's appearance on This Morning talking about Neighbours or winning The Masked Singer hasn't exactly translated into success for her either, given there are no Natalie Imbruglia songs in the Top 100 Official UK Singles Chart today, not even her most popular one - Torn.

So much for the publicity around Neighbours ending and the likes of NeighBens/Save Neighbours given Natalie proves less popular than someone like Ewan McVicar. If it couldn't work for her, how's Alan going to help?

Even Especially For You didn't make the Top 100 despite the fan campaign, and that's Kylie, who although she has her hardcore fans, isn't as popular now as she was in 2001.

Torn, Especially For You and Barry Crocker's theme are all in the sales only chart, such is the impact of streaming nowadays.

If I'm correct in thinking Neighbours is owned by Freemantle, whilst H&A is owned by one of the Endemol companies. With this in mind I'd consider it highly unlikely to happen. Had they both had the same parent company then there might have been a small chance of a character or two popping up elsewhere, even if only for a guest appearance.

Yep, Banjay (which bought Endemol Shine) own H&A. So no chance of a crossover.

If Fremantle did want to do a crossover, well The Day Today (which they own through Talkback) did a soap spoof The Bureau. They could write the characters in for the final weeks. (I've even thought of how to write Hennerty out and interweave the others into Erinsborough. ).

If another channel happened to be interested, I wonder if it could be a combination of a reduced number of new episodes a week (3 or 4) and then fill the rest of the week with classic episodes to reduce the costs for the show but still retain 5 episodes a week.

As Brekkie (and James2001) have mentioned, no UK channel is interested primarily as they'd still have to foot the bill for production and not make anything off it, even if it was 3 or 4 episodes a week.

Doesn't matter if Alan Fletcher is on This Morning and the hardcore Neighbours fans get excited, ITV still wouldn't be interested. As well as the other channels (even W).

(Listening to Smooth FM Melbourne the other night via the Internet radio, and Alan's wife actually does the breakfast show. From what I heard, she's understandably not wanting to talk of Neighbours and just continuing as normal until she knows the whole outcome.).

W's even less likely to buy it, I can't see how they'd possibly have the budget to fund a several episodes a week soap. Or get the viewers to justify it, even after they go FTA. The best anyone can hope for is a channel picking up a run of classic episodes.

I was just putting out an idea, prefaced with the caveat on if someone happened to be interested - no need to bite my head off!

Unlikely but could keep it going as a series maybe a few episodes every year following some characters 'after' Neighbours. I always thought an 'after Brookside' would have been good following them after they had left the Close.

Neighbours axed - James2001 - 19-02-2022

They were going to do that with Brookside with DVD releases. They made one, and put a trailer for a second on that DVD- but that second one never got made, and neither did any others. Presumably that first DVD didn't generate enough interest for there to be any more.
