YouTube Gold - Steve in Pudsey - 16-07-2021 VMPhil post_id=28011 time= user_id=1043 Wrote:That's still quite a coup for SM:TV though, as Chris Evans was at the height of his notoriety in 2000 (he sold his production company that year for £200m) and didn't just go on anyone's show. He says it was his favourite show though, as it was for everyone, which is why I imagine he did it rather than for the money or exposure. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Evans on great form without any real pressure, great chemistry with Cat Deeley and a format that allows a lot of mucking about. I think the earlier post speculating that he did it for a laugh rather than for the money/exposure is probably not far off the mark. It's not particularly exciting as a clip but what is interesting is that I don't him I've seen any other clips of him on the programme, and also this is after The Sex Pistols incident whereas I always thought that he was suspended and never returned: Cor, that's a rarity - like you, I'd never seen any other clips of Today apart from *that* one. That's a pretty shabby set of news headlines - gas leak, "bit warm for March, innit?', and football. Expect the show wouldn't have survived the next franchise round; looks like the Pistols did Thames a favour by putting it out of its misery. YouTube Gold - nwtv2003 - 17-07-2021 https://youtu.be/8pCz88Bng1Q Quite an interesting upload here, from 8 February 1987 when BBC1 stayed on air all night to bring live coverage of Australia and England in the cricket. Interestingly after the coverage ends they leave a caption on screen throughout advising of the result, before returning to highlights and then a brief closedown after the highlights. YouTube Gold - James2001 - 17-07-2021 30 minutes of caption and music, how very cwilliams... Is that everyone favourite "son of god"/conspiracy looney presenting the coverage too? I normally assosiate him with snooker rather than cricket. YouTube Gold - JasonB - 20-07-2021 More SM:tv from What’s On the Tapes this time featuring the last three episodes of Chums after Ant and Dec left. https://youtu.be/txlVOdXejKM YouTube Gold - James2001 - 20-07-2021 The episodes which both SM:TV Gold and the documentry last Christmas pretended never existed. YouTube Gold - JasonB - 20-07-2021 I wonder if they had intended to continue Chums with James and Louise? They made the trouble of updating the credits to feature Louise but it never came back after Christmas so I wonder if it was dropped suddenly? YouTube Gold - Steve in Pudsey - 21-07-2021 Did Pebble Mill have some kind of aversion to using the proper font for the regional ident on the symbols? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrjfh-rQ3EU YouTube Gold - James2001 - 21-07-2021 Not entirely on topic, but I've just had an email from YouTube that they've removed an episode of Incredible Games I uploaded because it "violates their child safety policy". I really can't understand why, someone must be being overzealous there, unless they think kids are going to start playing chess with the dark knight or find some giant bowl of soup to swim in after watching the video... VideotapeFTW on YouTube had the same "problem" when they were uploading archive kids TV material because it featured children and the issue was to do with an aim of "protecting" these "children", and the response to that from VideotapeFTW was to shove up a load of archive TV-am and "educational" videos instead. They wrote about it in the description of one of the videos about how the viewership was exclusively 30-39, almost exclusively from the UK and they couldn't see what the point from YouTube was even about, as even the youngest speaking child from a high profile TV Programme of the 1980s would be well into their 30s, maybe early 40s by now so there is "nobody to protect". Don't get me wrong, child protection is a good concept (and unfortunately necessary in this day and age), but realistically if young minds are going to watch an archive episode from Series 3 of of Mike & Angelo and decide to make a time machine by sticking a fork into the toaster, then that's an offline thing and not the fault of VideotapeFTW or whoever? YouTube Gold - James2001 - 21-07-2021 And it's not like those kids were in any danger at the time anyway, as it was a professional TV show that would have been carried out with full safety guidelines. The BBC aren't going to stick a bunch of kids in dangerous situations. The worst danger any of them is going to get from that video is embarrasment of them or their friends or family seeing themselves on TV from when they were kids. I've appealed the decision, but admittely I wonder if that will make things worse, they may end up deciding to take down the rest of the episodes and put a strike against my channel instead... "Up the Villa, Tone" ! Not only is the font non standard, - and even more bizzare as Pebble Mill was the 'nominated survivor' incase TVC went down for a period of time, so should have had access to all the fonts, - but that was horribly late opt out of network! YouTube Gold - EeveeSparkles - 21-07-2021 Apparently, BBC Three was actually launched in 1986, not 2003! https://youtu.be/VUKqalLEhHM YouTube Gold - Neil Jones - 21-07-2021 James2001 post_id=29781 time= user_id=956 Wrote:And it's not like those kids were in any danger at the time anyway, as it was a professional TV show that would have been carried out with full safety guildelines. To be honest its no different an argument to your parents having taken copious pictures of you and your siblings (if any) when you were young. My parents still have a couple of pictures of me and siblings as kids on a wall or two, (and a couple hundred more in a box in the attic) but Fred the registered Gas Safe Engineer who's come to service the boiler doesn't see the photo and suddenly decide to tell social services that we "need protecting", even though I was six in that photo and I'm nearly 40 now... I think it may be that YouTube just scans it, sees a short-arse person, thinks they're about 12 and reacts automatically, it has no concept of knowing that the programme was made in 1993 or whatever so all these kids were actually born in 1981... Although they managed to work out when you upload copyright content exactly what it is to block it so I don't see why they can't just say if this uploaded programme was made more than 18 years ago then this "little boy" has to be 27 today. Perils of overzealous automated YouTube bots I feel. Of course if they were playing network, they wouldn't need the regional legend on the symbol. I think the late opt was just the self-op desk set in mix mode rather than cut. |
