Trying to remember if he’s Daragh Moloney’s done rugby before, but can’t say I can. On TV he’s most associated with football now and is essentially the lead presenter for Republic of Ireland internationals and Champions League. He’s done more GAA on the radio, I think, RTE try not to have a lead GAA commentator now (as Michael Ó Muircheartaigh on radio and Ger Canning on TV might have been clearly in the past), for reasons.
When RTE last had the Six Nations exclusively, typically Ryle Nugent (who was also head of sport at the time) would have taken the Ireland game while the others would be covered by George Hamilton and Hugh Cahill.

I thought I'd missed a big announcement or some kind of emergency sub-let of a game for a moment but no....it's actually a mislabelled BBL basketball game.

Be interesting to see where the rights fall for this one but Wembley is to host the first "Finalissima" in 29 years on June 1st between Italy and Argentina following a new agreement between UEFA and CONMEBOL to stage three fixtures between the European and South American championships over the next 6 years.

It was reported in the news today that approval of the bids to host Euro 2028 to the UK and Ireland by UEFA have been delayed again. The football associations from all around the UK and Ireland have filed their submission of interest to host the tournament to UEFA this morning. However Turkey and Russia have also submitted formal bids to host the tournament in their own countries.

Officially announced now that Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstriet will call NFL Thursday Night Football next season, when Amazon Prime Video takes over the package exclusively. (Mostly exclusively, it will still air terrestrially in the participating teams markets). NBC will produce the games for Amazon.

While Micheal’s signing has been well flagged, Herbstriet only emerged recently and is somewhat unusual for an NFL analyst in that he never played in the league. His deal will allow him to continue to work for ESPN on their college football coverage.

Interesting the Saturday semi-final breaks the blackout - that isn't usually the case.
Not really sure providing travel for 5000 fans for a stadium that holds 90k is the gesture the FA are making it out to be. Even if Liverpool v Manchester City at Old Trafford wasn't considered problematic I doubt the FA would go for it anyway.

Well, they could, but they presumably wouldn't as they'd rather have matches at the usual kick-off times they use that the audience are used to, and of course in this instance they'd be competing with an FA Cup semi-final on BBC1.
You may note BT are showing a National League match at 3pm this Saturday.

Well, not all 90,000 were going to be travelling on the train, however many were running.
Liverpool were at Wembley last month for a match that finished at eight o'clock on Sunday, and the 40,000 or so Liverpool fans presumably didn't all then turn up at Euston and expect to get on trains from London to Liverpool, because even with all the trains running only about 5% of those would have been able to get on them.

Simon Reed and Nicky Slater have been axed as commentators for the World Figure Skating Championships after the broadcast of what they thought were off-mic reports referring to "that bitch from Canada" after a former competitor and coach called out their earlier commentary saying it was "sad" the Russians weren't competing and admitting a lack of knowledge on the technical requirements of the jumps.

Finally some new Six Nations graphics on the TikTok Women's Six Nations. In short, they're almost identical to the rather poor package used in the (men's) autumn internationals, but in purple and some changes in font.
So I'd say they're an improvement on the original iteration of these graphics, but that was not exactly a high bar and it's not a massive improvement on those.
