Neighbours axed - VMPhil - 12-02-2022 Though never a regular viewer, I always liked that arrangement of the theme song that’s been posted above - particularly paired with these opening titles, it all felt a lot more contemporary than the rather cheesy titles with the character names on screen and saxophone heavy arrangement of the theme music. I also really like the guitar loop playing under the “previously on” clips. The only thing that’s out of place is the logotype set in Brush Script, which stuck around a bit longer than it should have done IMO. https://youtu.be/1yI1I6j6XHI Neighbours axed - msim - 12-02-2022 And looking at some other episodes of that era, I'd forgotten how they had an overlay of the house number or location in the style of the previous opening credits triangles/shapes during a scene transition. See 2mins 50 here for an example: https://youtu.be/QrLqWiHVMmY Neighbours axed - lobster - 12-02-2022 Watching 5 minutes of that episode makes you wonder how it has lasted as long as it did, it really is just so bad. Neighbours axed - Torpido1 - 12-02-2022 Possibly of relevance here but not sure if it helps or hinders the campaign or does nothing to it - the winner of the masked singer uk - no spoilers at all but relates to this thread is all I will say and maybe a song from them being put high in the chart as neighbours made them famous Neighbours axed - Brekkie - 12-02-2022 msim post_id=68192 time=1644696536 user_id=945 Wrote:And looking at some other episodes of that era, I'd forgotten how they had an overlay of the house number or location in the style of the previous opening credits triangles/shapes during a scene transition. Have no memory of those titles at all. Think these are the shortest running titles though - used for just a few months before going back to the style they replaced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptUKTw436Uw Looking back at the versions from the early 90s, when they changed from the original style, I thought initially they replaced it with little more than a sting but can't see that online. IIRC there was a bit of a fuss kicked up about that at the time. Didn't realise it was in the original style - thought it was how the second set started. What were they thinking? Neighbours axed - JAS84 - 12-02-2022 The titles with the street maps were actually the second look, introduced when it moved from Seven to Ten. The first one had just the logo at the bottom of the screen. https://logos.fandom.com/wiki/Neighbours/Other Neighbours axed - DJ Dave - 12-02-2022 Brekkie post_id=68210 time= user_id=976 Wrote:msim post_id=68192 time=1644696536 user_id=945 Wrote:And looking at some other episodes of that era, I'd forgotten how they had an overlay of the house number or location in the style of the previous opening credits triangles/shapes during a scene transition. Yeah the first version of the titles with that theme seen here were awful too, and the second set was one of the best set of titles Neighbours had if you ask me. I agree, that episode with the "Simpsons" style titles as I think they use to call them was awful it went down hill once the Timmins left as they were a great family and I also think once Valda left it lost it's way. Neighbours axed - JasonB - 13-02-2022 I don't think we got those scene transitions with the house numbers in the UK, only Australia did. Correct me if i'm wrong of course. Neighbours axed - This is UTV - 13-02-2022 Ian Smith (Harold) is back filming again next month, I wonder if he will still be day dreaming of Madge again so we can get Anne Charleston the Ghost Madge back? Will be nice to see Lou back too? IIRC there was a bit of a fuss kicked up about that at the time.https://youtu.be/gaDh_nz5ULE At the time these were introduced in the UK, I seem to remember Andi Peters in the CBBC broom cupboard explaining the truncated title sequence meant that the writer / producer / director credits could appear as lower third credits during the opening scene of each episode, rather than during the full-length map title sequence, as they had appeared up until that point. It was a different era. |
