That promo really doesn't sell Sky Max at all IMO - and certainly doesn't give you the impression of it being "new".

This would've been back in January-March since I can't remember what exact month it was. We did discover also the trademark for "Sky Bravo", which was also in discussion quite a few years ago.

https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00003585590

I feel like that one is more from the perspective of 'We own the rights to Bravo, but we will own this trademark as well, so we can say we own all of Bravo's assets'
I really wish Sky/Comcast would bring back the Bravo brand to the UK, it's strong in the US and could be a great platform for US reality shows like Real Housewives and Below Deck as it is over there.

If its going to be a channel with a bit of everything, then it needs to stick to that. If I was in charge of what Sky Showcase would show, this is likely how I'd do it. I will do a day's worth of programming, between 6am and 12am the next day, with bits from each channel. This is a mismash, and frankly, I think (I HOPE) they would have a better mix of programmes. My idea would basically be to have the schedules of each Sky Channel work alongside Sky Showcase, so that a show can air simultaneously. At junctions, announcer can say 'If you want more of this programme, go to this channel, or on Catchup:

6:00am: The Early Rundown
7:00am: Sky News @ Breakfast with Kay Burley
10:00am: Will & Grace Double Bill
11:00am: Urban Secrets with Alan Cumming
12:00pm: Britain's Most Evil Killers
13:00pm: Border Security: America's Frontline
13:30pm: Family Fortunes
14:00pm: Blue Bloods
15:00pm: Sun, Sea, and A&E
16:00pm: Quantum Leap
17:00pm: Auction Double Bill
18:00pm: The News Hour with Mark Austin
18:30pm: Futurama
19:00pm: The Simpsons
19:30pm: The Simpsons
20:00pm: Rob & Romesh vs.
21:00pm: Curse of the Lost Amazon Gold
22:00pm: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
22:40pm: Sky News Tonight
23:40pm: Run, Hide, Fight
So, you want Sky Showcase to be like ITV or Channel 4.. interesting, but it won't work, especially not in 2021

Blimey, that channel looks dreadful.

It would have been better for Comcast to just shut down Sky One/Replay and not to try to dilute them with more drivel under different names. Cry

Looks pretty good to me. I think a problem Sky have had is some pretty decent shows falling completely under the radar (There’s Something About Movies being the example that comes to mind) due to being lost on a vanilla channel with no real identity. I think / hope we’ll see a few Dave-style commissions going onto it (Buzzcocks feels like it could have ended up on Dave).

Sky Showcase is launching at 11am on the big day. That channel is 100% taking over from Sky One's bandwidth because at 10am there is a placeholder by which Sky will be internally changing things around.

The last ever Sky One programme to be aired will be Road Wars at 9am.

Sky Replay seems like its continuing from what ive seen from listings online.

Same here although strangely Virgin media shows that sky one/Showcase will show Footballs funniest moments at 10 AM, the same time the launch programme airs.

Do Sky lost the rights to Futurama in September as they have replaced it in the evening when it launches?

Sky Portfolio Changes - channelbox - 19-08-2021

On day 1 of Sky Showcase, Futurama is replaced by The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, though Futurama is on at 6am on switchover day.

For a new channel - you would think that it would be easier to find that promo online but that recorded version is literally the only copy I can find...

A cult classic it may be but not sure a 30 year old comedy is the best "showcase" for Sky's entertainment portfolio.

Just a random thought - unsure if there's a better thread for it - will Sky One recordings on Sky+/Q boxes disappear when the channel closes or does it not work like that? I guess if they rebrand the old 'Sky One' to either Showcase or Max they would remain?

They remain as 'Sky One' recordings. Any old recording will always have the name of the channel at the time of broadcast.

I still have recordings from the old 'Sky Movies Free Weekends' they used to run 11 years ago. Oddly, they are listed as being on 'Sky Showcase' as that was the channel they always used for those events. We've gone full circle, again!

Sky Portfolio Changes - London Lite - 20-08-2021

There appears to be a fair bit of simulcasting on the first day in prime time. Showcase is showing Legends of Tomorrow and Prodigal Son from 8pm on 1st September at the same time as Sky Max, while they then simulcast Code 404 from Sky Comedy at 10pm.

The first show is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air at 11am.
