Yeah, I enjoyed it, shame if it's true.

Not Channel 4, but would Richard be good if they revived the Krypton Factor (and actually put effort into it)?

The Game Show Thread - SuperSajuuk - 20-08-2021

Shame if its true that TCM [The Crystal Maze, not the channel lol] is axed, but I think it was clear prior to the pandemic that C4 were not really interested filming more episodes, so the pandemic just made the decision easier. That being said, I feel like the pandemic would have worked very much in TCM's favour, since you could just have each team be a family bubble only. Might've limited things too much though, as people would know each other too easily, so challenges wouldn't have been challenging.

As said, all good things must come to an end. I'm glad C4 did a revival of it though, even if short. Perhaps more revivals of long-gone game shows [but only a couple of series] are the order of the day though, instead of reviving one show and burning it into the ground by doing it too often and too regularly.

The Game Show Thread - Rick - 20-08-2021

It was one of my absolute favourite shows growing up and I was quite disappointed by the revival if I'm honest. I actually lost interest and stopped watching after a few episodes, the format changes, host and celeb specials just ruined it for me. They should have left it alone.

Well that lasted long.

Judging by the comments he doesn't seem to have been a popular choice.

EDIT: Oh my - was not aware of what is alleged to have happened.

Mike Richards WON'T be the new presenter of Jeopardy! after all...

I wonder if that episode will ever air or if they'll simply refilm it with the (second) new host.

Still think Ken Jennings should present it.

They film 5 shows a day, so there will be a week of Mike hosting before guest hosts return.

It'd just be a logistical nightmare to re-shoot them for the sake of having someone else present (indeed, what if the outcome is different?).

The Game Show Thread - Brekkie - 20-08-2021

It's clearly his past actions rather than the backlash to picking himself as host that have led to this but surely if he's not fit enough to host he isn't fit enough to be the EP as well.

The Game Show Thread - tellyblues - 20-08-2021

The Crystal Maze should be a reminder to Channel 4 that they cannot just take a classic show and use it how they want. Hopefully the rumoured revival of GamesMaster won't get anywhere.

Confirmed by Variety's competing publication, The Hollywood Reporter. I think in the long-term Bialik will add to their newly-appointed duties (primetime specials and spinoffs) hosting the existing daily version. Although Jennings' is also very able to host, he has also had his share of controversy: he's a very active user of Twitter, and some of his comments have been insensitive, even if he has apologised beforehand.

(Memo) Sony Pictures TV Wrote:SPT will now resume the search for a permanent syndicated host. In the meantime, we will be bringing back guest hosts to continue production for the new season, details of which will be announced next week.

The Wheel is rolling over the Atlantic and heading to NBC in 2022:

Quote:NBC is bringing over British comedian Michael McIntyre to host the U.S. version of his BBC game show The Wheel.

McIntyre, who created the show with regular producing partner Dan Baldwin, hosts the UK version and will now host and exec produce the NBC adaptation.

I just hope it's not another Weakest Link scenario.
Anne being brought over, her leaving, George Gray taking it to Syndicated, being axed.

The Game Show Thread - Brekkie - 23-08-2021

Didn't notice last week but looks like House of Games have got new titles - same, but different.

The Game Show Thread - Ash101 - 23-08-2021

That's not new news about The Wheel heading to the States, but that is new today about Michael hosting it. I think it would work, is he known for any comedy there?

I guess it'll be easiest to film the show over there, as you'd need to fly a lot of people (Celebs & contestants) to do it here!

The Game Show Thread - thebigdog2020 - 23-08-2021

Clive Myrie's first Mastermind airing now on BBC Two. No change to the studio, theme etc only the host for this series. I feel the series has improved since the move to Belfast in 2019 as it was a back to basis than trying to change it for the sake of change.
