It was rather nice. Perhaps someone on the production team had worked there and missed the view.

They did eventually move to the sofa, but I'm having trouble finding a clip.

You mean Moira? Yes she did eventually move to the sofa for her 30 minute slot. Was it when Rob Bonnet retired as I can’t ever remember her sharing the desk with Chris Hollins (who replaced Rob).

Yup, Moira. Someone must have something somewhere. As if by magic it'll appear I'm sure.

TC7.

Didn't Moira present the first bit of Breakfast proper alongside Dermot Murnaghan on one occasion when the intended co-presenter was late?

I can't recall such a moment but naturally it's more than possible.

When it was relaunched with Jeremy Bowen and Sophie Haworth as 'Breakfast' they had two sets. 6am-7am was spent sat at a News 24 style desk and the rest of the programme on a soft sofa set that actually looked like an outdated airline lounge. They threw to the headlines via a monitor before the summery presenter desk was moved into the studio.

Does BBC Breakfast get a new logo?

BBC Breakfast - Brekkie - 11-10-2021

A nice thread overnight from the graphics designer preparing for this mornings show.

Is it just me or have they moved the sofa?

I'd be very interested in seeing what the set would look like if they'd keep the sofas like that. You'd think that it would give the cameras more breathing room. And if they would just replace the corner two screens with one diagonal screen, the presenters would be able to sit in front of that and still have a decent backdrop screen.

I’m pretty sure that the left of frame on that photo is pretty much as far as the set goes. Weirdly you’d just end up bunching up the cameras giving far less room, probably…

Does BBC Breakfast get much of a rebrand when it happens?

It only received a rebrand in 2019 but they forgot something and we all know what that was.

I remember at the blue place (I think) someone referred to that original set as a replica of an Albanian dentist’s waiting room… that’s always stuck with me. Big Grin

Later on, after they got rid of Moira and the presenters started reading the news themselves, I remember there was a desk at one end of TC7, and a sofa at the other, and I think they used to chop and change each half hour? Didn’t last too long, I don’t think. I always thought that era was a big step down from what it replaced - the 2002 music has still never been bettered, IMO.

It was the presenter Jeremy Bowen who referred to it as a Romanian Dentists Waiting Room. Big Grin
