The Sport Thread - thebigdog2020 - 01-02-2022 After speculation on an inferior forum it is now confirmed: Channel 4 win rights to show FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea game on E4 on 9th February and if they win Final to be on Channel 4. If Chelsea lose the semi the 3rd/4th place playoff will be on E4. Is this the first sport on E4? I know when C4 had Cricket the Saturday afternoon was on Film4 when Racing was on but has any overspill ever reached E4 before? The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 01-02-2022 The final will break the Saturday afternoon blackout with a 4.30pm kick off. As for sport on E4 nothing springs to mind with More4 usually the overspill. There was a phase though when some of the sport magazine shows aired overnight were on 4Music for some reason, so whether some landed there via E4 I don't know. I’m surprised it’s they’re not putting the semi-final on Channel 4, but I guess they don’t want to mess up the 6pm hour. Nat Coombs will be presenting the BBC's Superbowl Coverage with Jason and Osi. Agree with the sentiment that Nat - or anyone else for that matter - should be the presenter for the full narrative of the NFL season from September to the Superbowl in February. The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 02-02-2022 Super League regular season highlights deal renewed with the BBC. The Super League Show will continue to be shown in the middle of the night on Mondays in the North of England and on Tuesday afternoons everywhere but also will be available from 19:00 on Mondays on BBC iPlayer, which is a posititve development. I thought I'd seen that the play-offs and Grand Final highlights would be on Channel 4, but the article says they will be on the BBC as well. https://twitter.com/SuperLeague/status/1488512469802754055 That reminds me of tiggerboy0301's and Scratch_Perry's comments on the BBC NFL coverage earlier, that the rugby league coverage is split in a similar way in terms of presenters, with Tanya Arnold doing almost all Super League Shows and Mark Chapman brought in for a few Challenge Cup games and internationals each year. It does make the Challenge Cup feel like a seperate sport in a way to the Super League coverage with them being broadcast in such sperate format with different hosts. Meanwhile, it looks like Channel 4 will give ample air time to their Super League coverage which is good to see. https://twitter.com/rugbyleagueontv/status/1487378692993077252 The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 02-02-2022
After speculation on an inferior forum it is now confirmed: Channel 4 win rights to show FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea game on E4 on 9th February and if they win Final to be on Channel 4. The Sport Thread - RhysJR - 02-02-2022 The headline forgets to mention it, but Wales have also declined. https://twitter.com/TelegraphSport/status/1488644807677431810 The Sport Thread - Michael - 02-02-2022 Telegraph don't care about Wales. The Sport Thread - thebigdog2020 - 03-02-2022 Brian Moore to commentate on the Men's 6 Nations for the BBC for last time this Saturday at the Calcutta Cup (No surprise with the cutback of men's games on the BBC with England only being covered once a year) Quite a changing of the guard with BBC Rugby as John Inverdale, Jeremy Guscott and now Moore will no longer be involved. https://twitter.com/brianmoore666/status/1489156588170620935?cxt=HHwWjsC9zd2BxqopAAAA He will however still commentate on the Women's Tournament starting in March once the Men's & U20s end (He worked on most of the England Women's Matches last Autumn for BBC) The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 03-02-2022 One of the best things about the shift of England games to ITV is less Brian Moore. Nice he is being given a final outing though. Wonder too if Eddie Butler will be moved on - would much prefer Andrew Cotter on the Wales games. The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 03-02-2022 Gary Lineker has tested positive meaning he'll miss the live FA Cup ties over the weekend. BBC have an abundance of good presenters that can stand in but Gabby Logan can't do Saturday as she is doing 6 Nations and Mark Chapman is down to do radio and MOTD that evening, maybe Dan Walker to present on Saturday and Chappers or Gabby on Sunday? The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 03-02-2022 Well Chapman can easily be moved to the TV role and he is I think now the clear number two football presenter. Probably not great timing though for the BBC considering the focus on Linekers salary. The Sport Thread - Rdd - 03-02-2022 I see Premier Sports are covering the (somewhat controversial to say the least) Saudi Invitational this weekend, can’t remember the last time they covered golf. Very recently they showed the Singapore International at the start of the year but couldn't tell you before that |
