If it works shame they stopped text Santa event in December as a week of dedicated shows like soccer aid getting would create more impact for the text Santa night

Where as I’d argue that out of all of them Text Santa utilised their programmes and producers well and often filled the three hours with entertaining features without overusing charity films or repeating content, something that a lot of the others have struggled with over recent years especially.
As well produced as I found it, I just don’t think it ever became a well known brand for the public, something that Comic Relief and Children in Need have developed through their years of fundraising, and unfortunately the donation totals on the night used to prove this.

It will be interesting now most of the country is back to normal if the post news part of Children in need will return or if a 10 PM finish will now be permanent. I don’t think it just how long children in need and comic relief have been going either. Both have had figure heads who would present or at least be there for the full broadcast and both fairly popular figures who were involved with the charity themselves in Terry Wogan and Lenny Henry. Even sport relief has Gary Lineker sort of in that role. Text Santa just had the usual ITV faces where it was just really another presenting job for them which was another reason it won’t have worked.

I actually thought it was a shame when Text Santa ended as it was a bit to premature. The live show actually had good content and with Ant & Dec involved it was very much like Saturday Night Takeaway, whereas the problem with Comic Relief and Children in Need is the reliance on pre-filmed sketches, which leads to not much in studio material which has lot the edge of it's live and anything could happen feel.
I also liked how Text Santa rotated it's charities each year so it became more varied. It really should have the show to make the two BBC telethons up the ante, but because it stopped short, the others have just got lazy.

Yes - in the few years it was on air I thought Text Santa had some of the better content on telethon nights. It is a shame it was axed just as it was getting going really.

I think so. It wasn't in ITV's autumn press pack last month.
Maybe they don't want it getting lost against SCD? But then I struggle to see where it fits in Early 2022, alongside Masked Singer, The Voice Takeaway & BGT...

Quite surprised they're switching Beat the Chasers to weekly to be honest, though The Chase holds up better than most things thrown against Strictly. However with the new format involving all six Chasers I thought they'd want to give that the push a stripped slot across a week achieves.

Do we know how many episodes Beat the Chasers is? I know The Cube has 7 (+ the Soccer Aid special from last week) so will finish on Saturday 30th October.
Starstruck is a bit of a mystery. Not in ITV’s Autumn press pack which implies it’s been pushed to next year, but there doesn’t appear to be any room for it in Q1, and would they really want it alongside BGT in Q2?
The schedule they’ve got there isn’t particularly strong. Nothing wrong with any of the shows individually but the schedule lacks an ‘anchor’ show to build the night around. After the lower ratings in the Spring I don’t think Beat the Chasers is strong enough to play that role. It’s very gameshow heavy too.
I can see why they didn’t fancy launching something like Starstruck against the long Strictly shows at the start of the run. Andorra v England on 9th October (7.45pm kick off) means the whole schedule will have to miss a week as well so definitely worth waiting until after then. But I’m surprised it doesn’t seem to be in the Autumn at all.
I guess Walk The Line might take the 8.30pm slot come November time. I had originally thought it would be stripped across the week but Saturdays perhaps seem more likely now with no Starstruck.

Interesting as they’ve got both The Cube & Beat The Chasers on Saturdays whereas they’ve both been stripped series in the last year. But it does feel like they’re lacking something to plan the evening around. Gameshows pre/post peak are fine…
