Related: Some gameshows you get the "trick" question that if you come in too early you'll get it wrong because you went "the wrong way" as it were. Blockbusters was good at this:

"What 'M' was the mouse created by Disney.."?
contestant buzzes in: "Mickey?"
"No! Full question to the team: What 'M' was the mouse created by Disney as a girlfriend for Mickey?"

Family Fortunes too. Such as this example (admittedly from the original US Family Feud):

Don't think that really happened all that often on our version though!

Have been watching Take Off with Bradley and Holly and following the Christmas pilot in 2019, it has had no noticable format changes, except for some sound cues from Tipping Point and Holly being her normal giggly self whilst Bradley is hamming it up, it's not too bad.

Hungry Bear Media have a couple of new shows tonight, not only Take Off... but also Michael McIntyre's The Wheel is on later, the latter being a very quick turn around as it was only filming a few weeks back and was stopped due to COVID. Take Off... was filmed pre-pandemic.

The Wheel was filmed in late May and IIRC filming itself was unaffected, only two of the celebrities had to self isolate.

The Wheel was back tonight and it felt tighter than series 1, they’ve added a new round where the celebrities have to answer a question which has more than one answer, in this case the zodiac and every correct answer is £1000 to the pot and it stops if a celebrity gets it wrong

Every gameshow has its "magic moment", that wonderful sense of achievement that makes it worth tuning in for. It doesn't happen very often, whether its a fifth gold run on Blockbusters or somebody won everything but the kitchen sink on Bullseye... Only Connect's magic moment is when a smart arse blows everything out of the water when they find an answer/sequence/connection that wasn't the "intended" one, but they have to accept it because it is still technically correct. (note: I'm not talking about the last in the sequence where it's any valid answer that happens to fit, that's a staple).

It never used to happen. They went for years without an answer having two "correct" answers (or at least based on what was presented in the show, so its probably safe to assume, much like when rude words on Countdown, they get edited out).

The Chase Australia debuted its special half an hour version and I'm not sure it works as well as the regular version. Larry Emdur is quite good as the host though,

Jimmy Carr to host new Channel 4 comedy gameshow I Literally Just Told You created by Richard Bacon

Quote:Channel 4 has commissioned a new primetime comedy gameshow, I Literally Just Told You created by Richard Bacon and produced by Expectation.

It’s the only gameshow in history where the contestants are given every answer with the questions written, literally, as the show is happening. You just need to pay attention to everything that’s going on.

I don’t think the half an hour version is new and has run in the past.

It is because Seven is covering the Olympics and yes, they have done this before to cover other events and programming.

The Cube is back and it's got a voice. Should be interesting as it's worked quite well for the US and (IIRC) Australian versions. Helps give The Cube a bit more personality. Would have loved them to introduce the US lifeline where the host can try the game for you but it probably doesn't work when you've got Schofe and not a professional sportsperson.

Now I haven't seen the versions where the The Cube has a voice so I have no opinion/reference as to how it adds to the show or doesn't. However, first impressions, it just feels unnecessary and a bit gimmicky in my opinion to make The Cube into a character. It just doesn't feel right in terms of the show and something that is unneeded but will form full judgements when the series goes out - it might just work.

I really didn't like it on the US version in particular. Just was annoying rather than adding something to it.

Heartwarming to hear. After years of being a struggling millionaire, he has finally made it as a multi-millionaire.
