Just checked back on iPlayer and it seems to be just at the bottom of the hour, but they didn’t throw to it like they used to. Odd. Only the opt-out for the nations, with English regions getting the weather instead...hence the slight awkward opt. BBC Breakfast - harshy - 17-08-2021 It’s a shame the choice is gone at least give the option of world news on news channel, why can’t they do that? Also there's usually signing on the news channel for at least part of the Breakfast time slot. I could be wrong but I think during the Olympics the News Channel took the World News due to sporting rights related reasons, which meant they couldn't simulcast with BBC One (also Olympic Breakfast had comparatively little news content). BBC Breakfast - Brekkie - 17-08-2021 Although with just 4-6 minutes an hour of news during Olympic Breakfast it wouldn't be justified in showing it anyway. Paris will be slightly different as it'll be before the action gets underway so will likely feature more news, but still significant Olympic content, and I imagine live action will begin around 8am our time. I guess the argument for not airing World News during Breakfast is the same as during the 1/6/10 - despite being on BBC1 the bulletins get healthy audiences on BBC News and that is what news channel viewers generally expect at that time. Of course there are the occassions where they warrant being pre-empted, and depending on what BBC World News were showing at Breakfast I'd agree the last couple of days it may have been justified airing those on BBC News as well, although if it's two services essentially covering the same story it's understandable why they would stick with Breakfast. BBC Breakfast - steely12 - 22-08-2021 Only 1.15m and 39.8% share for BBC Breakfast on Saturday - the programme's figures are in decline. That is enough. Any further posts like this, and you will be banned. BBC Breakfast - XIII - 22-08-2021 The ratings are fine, it’s only a smidge down to what they do normally in terms of share plus it’s August, ratings are usually lower at this time of year anyway. BBC Breakfast - RR - 06-09-2021 Good to see the regional news back in England this morning BBC Breakfast - Rolling News - 18-09-2021 Has social distancing now been lifted between the main presenters? I notice Charlie and Naga were sat much closer this morning than they were yesterday. |
