Sky Sports News was showing the Sky News coverage in the last hour but they've returned to normal programming with the tickers saying "Duke Of Edinburgh 1921 - 2021" and reminding people to switch to Sky News.

I heard it when driving listening to Radio 1, cut in sound and then a clearly authoritive report from BBC News- exactly how you expect BBC to handle such news and simultaneously across the radio network. It sounds like that wasn't the case on TV and BBC1 left a few minutes behind.
Caught ITV on +1 - Eamonn interrupting the interview to Cross over to ITV News for an important announcement. The CSO backdrop on ITV was full of Prince Phillip images.
C5+1 have had a breakdown slide for 15 minutes - considering their planned bulletin was perfectly times it seems odd they didn't run with it. C4+1 only just gone to the news report - agree the slide could at least have done with some text. Also don't think the robot man feels appropriate for the rest of the day.
Must say the news stopped me in my tracks in a way I didn't expect.

I'm sure there would have been a message on ENPS (or whatever they're using now - EDIT: OpenMedia) a few minutes before, warning of the start time, and it was a case of who was bothering to pay attention to that. But they would have had no choice or control over when to opt, the switch would been done in the London control room.
I like the approach (it's a lot less stressful to try and avoid screwing up one rolling obituary programme than worry about what inexperienced presenters around the country might end up doing…) but that's also partly because they happen to have competent Evan Davis and Michel Hussain available at the time.
They'll be plenty of moans in due course that there is "too much" coverage but people can switch off or listen to pre-recorded programmes. I'm guessing they'll keep going until at least 3pm on the radio, maybe right the way through to 6/7.
