The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 09-12-2021 Yes - C4 will take Sky Sports from 12.15-3.30 (or up until podium), with Whisper coverage from 12.00-12.15 and from 3.30, plus the full usual highlights programme at 5.30, which seems a bit pointless really. https://motorsportbroadcasting.com/2021/12/08/channel-4-strikes-deal-with-sky-to-air-f1-season-finale-live-in-uk/ The Sport Thread - madmusician - 09-12-2021 Brekkie post_id=57669 time= user_id=976 Wrote:Yes - C4 will take Sky Sports from 12.15-3.30 (or up until podium), with Whisper coverage from 12.00-12.15 and from 3.30, plus the full usual highlights programme at 5.30, which seems a bit pointless really. I don't think it is pointless. Whisper are presumably contracted to produce it, and one would assume that C4 would not be allowed to place the full race coverage on All4, whereas they can put the normal highlights show on All4. The precedent for this is the Cricket World Cup in 2019. C4 were showing highlights throughout the tournament, using their own production team and presenter (heavily linked with the ICC's host broadcast operation but nothing whatsoever to do with Sky) and then they did the deal to show Sky's live coverage of the final (which utilised ICC commentary but they did broadcast Sky's whole programme without any of their own wraparound or use of the ICC wraparound). They still showed the scheduled highlights programme produced by the existing team, and this went on All4 whereas the live coverage did not. The Sport Thread - eyeTV - 09-12-2021 FA Cup 3rd Round TV Picks FRIDAY 7 JANUARY 2022 • Swindon Town v Manchester City at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub. SATURDAY 8 JANUARY 2022 • Millwall v Crystal Palace at 12.45pm on ITV • Hull City v Everton at 5.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer SUNDAY 9 JANUARY 2022 • West Ham United v Leeds United at 2.15pm on ITV and ITV Hub • Nottingham Forest v Arsenal at 5.15pm on ITV and ITV Hub MONDAY 10 JANUARY 2022 • Manchester United v Aston Villa at 7.55pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer The Sport Thread - Rdd - 09-12-2021 Man United being on BBC will suit the significant Irish viewership who, as it stands, many of which will have no access to the ITV side of the tv picks. Since the folding of eir Sport there’s no longer any ROI rights holder for the FA Cup which is unfortunate. You’d think this is the sort of rights Premier Sports would be interested in picking up but they haven’t yet. The Sport Thread - eyeTV - 09-12-2021 ITV have the 4th round draw live on the Sunday. The Sport Thread - thebigdog2020 - 09-12-2021 Bit of annoyance for me that when announcing the FA Cup ties some of the clubs/broadcasters still calling ITV - ITV1. https://twitter.com/NFFC/status/1468917695051702276 https://twitter.com/CpfcNews_/status/1468922392927899650 https://twitter.com/davidgold/status/1468912949452492800 BBC Sport also said ITV1 when announcing the TV ties for the 3rd Round of the FA Cup on the link below https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59594346 The Sport Thread - Jon - 09-12-2021 To be fair, it’s only ITV that have to adhere to their brand guidelines, and it’s useful way here of making the distinction when games are also on ITV 4. Although, saying that it seems there aren’t any games on ITV 4 at this stage. The Sport Thread - Newshound47 - 09-12-2021 I am not sure ITV4 will have any more FA Cup games after the one upcoming replay. I think all future matches will be on ITV(1) even replays. The Sport Thread - Newshound47 - 09-12-2021 Brighton v Spurs has been postponed. The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 09-12-2021 Liverpool v Shrewsbury and Chelsea v Chesterfield a couple of the big PL v EFL clashes overlooked, though might have been a different story if the PL teams were away. Both though I'd have thought would have wider appeal than the fixtures chosen for the Saturday. The Sport Thread - RR - 09-12-2021 The press release from The FA used ITV1, and is presumably followed by others: https://www.thefa.com/news/2021/dec/09/emirates-fa-cup-third-round-broadcast-picks-20210912 The Sport Thread - TIGHazard - 10-12-2021 Red Bull are unhappy with one of Sky's idents. https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1204868318/red-bull-extreem-teleurgesteld-in-televisiespotje-engelse-zender-met-crashende-max-verstappen In particular, this one. https://twitter.com/_autohan/status/1466771580655132680 article through google translate Wrote:The channel made a commercial with the crash of Max Verstappen at Silverstone, followed by the text: Merry Christmas. The Sport Thread - Jon - 10-12-2021 I think it’s slightly ridiculous really. Crashes are a big part of the drama of the sport, as long as there was no long term injuries don’t really see the problem. Let’s hope Dave don’t decide to make an ident using footage from the Red Bull Soapbox series. The Sport Thread - Brekkie - 10-12-2021 Can understand why it is seen in bad taste but I suspect it is just a case of taking a noteable moment from the year to use in the Christmas ident. I assume that is what they've done with other sports aswell. I assume that is what they've done with other sports aswell. All they did is take their existing idents but change the tagline to Merry Christmas. That ident has been running since the crash happened. EDIT: I'm wrong. But that has been the defence people have been using online. |
