Ukraine Crisis - scottishtv - 25-02-2022 I rolled my eyes when I heard Reporting Scotland's headline of "We hear from Scots in Ukraine", but in actual fact their report had quite a compelling human interest angle. It featured three families of various degrees of 'Scottishness' and their experiences staying or deciding to leave, and the circumstances surrounding them. It was all done through video calls or mobile phone footage, and really did put a human face on things, which was welcome after the intensity of the national news. Made me sit up and think of those civilians featured, so well done to those involved at BBC Scotland. Ukraine Crisis - bkman1990 - 25-02-2022 I switched over from NBC News Now to Wolf Blitzer on CNN at 11pm. I have to say the difference with the live CNN coverage on the ground in both Ukraine & Poland tonight has been amazing. The quality of it's coverage is well worth it when you look at the crisis on the ground. CNN's Jim Sciutto broke news at 11pm from Ukraine's Military General that all males of military age aged 18 to 60 from Ukraine have now been told that they have been banned from leaving the country to mobilize against Putin's Russia. The pictures also coming out from the anti war protestors being arrested in St Petersburg in Russia is another shocking reminder in that it has so much significant importance right now when we have gone through an extraordinary day's events in Ukraine. These are 2 quite extraordinary moments to see unfolding right in front of you on our screens when you look at this depressing story. And it's only going to get worse with no end sight. Depressing is one word. Absolutely sickening is another. Ukraine Crisis - bkman1990 - 25-02-2022 Wolf Blitzer has said on CNN that he will return for more breaking news coverage on Ukraine at 9pm ET. On the video call theme though one thing which stuck with me today was an interview with a young father on the Victoria Derbyshire bulletin this morning. He spoke so well and so calmly given the situation - indeed many of the interviewees in the heat of it seem calmer than those interviewing from London. What really struck me though was how he talked about getting his family out of the city and to what they hoped was safety in the countryside - and then how he would leave them and come back and fight. It's so easy to watch these stories and think it's army vs army, but in this case it's civilians having to - and indeed willing to - defend their own country and protect their homeland for their families. I think the fact that if you weren't listening to the words it just came across as yet another news interview via Skype/Zoom, which we've seen so many of over the last couple of years, just really bought home how quickly Ukrainians have gone from innocently living a fairly comfortable everyday lift to being in an active war zone, all through no fault of their own. That's kind of stuck with me more today than the more traditional war footage. Ukraine Crisis - Medianext.MX - 25-02-2022 More correspondents moving to conflict zone: Tom Llamas is on his way to Kyiv. Gabe Gutierrez filling in for him on his NBC News Now hour. Lester Holt back in NY. That ties with the timing of any expected air assault on Kyiv, so makes sense from CNN's point of view. Ukraine Crisis - FrancisC - 25-02-2022 Head of CNNi tells the NYT they have 75 people in Ukraine right now: Ukraine Crisis - TMD_24 - 25-02-2022 bkman1990 post_id=70116 time= user_id=922 Wrote:Wolf Blitzer has said on CNN that he will return for more breaking news coverage on Ukraine at 9pm ET. He's on 9pm all week as part of the rotating presenters in the CNN Tonight show so probably pre-planned regardless of events though I see from the schedules he is doing a Saturday edition of The Situation Room. Another person who is doing an extra shift is Anderson who is doing another adition of 360 at midnight ET and CNNi is simulcasting all of domestic on Friday except Amanpour airing as usual. Ukraine Crisis - matthieu1221 - 25-02-2022 BFMTV is the only French news channel to continue live coverage overnight, covering the press conference following the Council of Europe meeting. Just popped up on the One. Ukraine Crisis - bkman1990 - 25-02-2022 Michael Holmes got cut off there while presenting CNN Newsroom from Ukraine. EDIT: He's back now. Phew. Thank goodness for that. Ukraine Crisis - Newsroom - 25-02-2022 I can only think of one reason why Anderson has yet to arrive in Ukraine, that being he's just had a new kid. Anchors such as Scuitto and Burnett will be due a switch over soon surely? Id like to see Bolduan and Berman do a spell out there. Am sure Hala will also be on the despatch list. Regardless, CNN are doing spectacularly as with any crisis of this kind and I am very happy Mike McCarthy appears to be in the driving seat. Ukraine Crisis - Newsroom - 25-02-2022 It seems half past programming has been scrapped from the News Channel this weekend. Rolling news all day Saturday and Sunday.
