If true that’s a great coup for Channel 4 - it’s decades since the Lions last appeared on terrestrial tv.

Elsewhere it appears RugbyPass has extended its Super Rugby rights to cover the trans Tasman phase of the tournament.

They used them for their Championship coverage in the last year of the contract.

Six Nations rights in ROI (including Women’s and U20) to be shared between RTÉ and VMTV.

https://www.irishrugby.ie/2021/05/10/six-nations-enters-talks-with-rte-and-virgin-media/

While that’s not necessarily an indicator that BBC/ITV will retain in the U.K., I would think the chances of that happening have increased significantly since Sky would have wanted both U.K. and Ireland rights.

No official confirmation of split of games just that RTE will broadcast games from the Men's 6 Nations for the first time since 2017 and Virgin will broadcast games from Under 20 & Women's 6 Nations that have been shown on RTE for a long time including the last few years after they lost the rights to the Men's Tournament. Hopefully this is a good indication of rights for UK remaining on BBC/ITV and some rare good news for RTE Sport, if they retain UEFA Champions League and add Pro16 then they will be happy.

Return to live coverage then - may see a return of coverage on BBC3 next year then.

Have they now done a deal with UK Athletics then as they've live rights to the UK rounds which used to be sold separately.

There was live coverage last year in a very last minute deal. Mostly on BBC2, but Stockholm got a Sunday afternoon BBC1 slot and Monaco ended up on the red button IIRC as it was a Friday night and BBC2 already had sport in the schedule. World feed commentary for all meets but Gabby Logan and a pundit were in Salford for those on BBC1 or 2

This deal and the BBC’s other Athletics deals cover most of what the old UK Athletics deal covered with the exception of the UK Athletics Championships. They may or may not do a separate deal to show that. We’ll have to wait and see.

There was talk the BBC & UK Athletics were finding it hard to get a deal for domestic athletics but with the BBC now having Diamond League, Great North Run, London Marathon, World Athletics Championships, Olympics, Commonwealth Games I can't see where else the UK Athletics can go.

On another note, the 2nd BBC Sport virtual studio was used tonight for MOTD.

The FA Cup Final today is significant in UK broadcasting terms for a few reasons. I think all these are right and are true for at least the next four seasons:

The last FA Cup game to be shown by BT Sport.

The last FA Cup Final to be shown (simulcast) live on a pay TV channel, ending a run that began in 1998.

The last FA Cup coverage to be shown by a pay TV broadcaster, ending a run that began back in the days of BSB. (So 1990?)

The last FA Cup Final where the BBC will be the only live FTA broadcaster. Next years will be the first since 1988 to be shown live by both the BBC and ITV.
