Asking here as I don't think there is an international sports rights thread on here yet like there was on in the other place:
Does anyone have any information on how the international rights work for the Autumn Nations Series? Are there separate packages?
I only ask as BeIN MENA have showed various matches each weekend but never England matches even against Australia or South Africa on either their Arabic or English channels. They have (or will show) shown the following:
Ireland v Japan
Wales v South Africa
Scotland v Australia
Scotland v South Africa
Ireland v New Zealand
Wales v Fiji
Scotland vJapan
Wales v Australia
Ireland v Argentina,
Anyone able to explain why?

The rights to the Autumn Nations Series (November internationals hosted by Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, and Italy) are now sold by Six Nations Rugby but I think only as existing deals expire. For example even though the U.K. rights are now centralised and sold to Amazon, Channel 4 is being allowed complete the last season of its existing deal for Ireland games, and so Amazon will only take over these rights next year.
Previously (until this season) Autumn international rights were separately sold by each union, so the RFU, IRFU, SRU, WRU, FFR, FIR would have each had their own tv deals for their own hosted games.

Thanks that makes sense, so BeIN could be showing the matches through existing deals with IRFU, SRU and WRU as they only seem to show those 3 team's home matches.

NBC keep the Premier League rights in the US with a huge increase in the fee being paid.
As an idea of how the cost of those has grown:
2010 = $85m* (Fox / ESPN - 3 years)
2013 = $250m (NBC - 3 years)
2016 = $800m (NBC - 6 years)
2022 = $2.7bn (NBC - 6 years)
(*Based on The Athletic saying the 2013 deal was worth triple the previous one.)

Don’t really understand what he means by saying the deals are basically a global Comcast deal. Surely both the UK and US deals are separate from each other.
It does suggest other players were giving serious bids perhaps DAZN were also after them.

Industry analyst Jack Genovese tweeted that Fubo had reportedly bid $2bn.
Not seen any suggested figures for the rumoured joint CBS / ESPN bid.

Fairly long term deals it seems - not uncommon in the US of course but now perhaps the covid caution is subsiding it is the time to lock them in with the fear of new streamers coming in and taking the rights.

Was there any reason Final Score was on BBC Two rather than its usual slot on BBC One this weekend? It's not unprecedented for it to be on Two rather than One (bank holidays or when live sport like the Six Nations takes presedence) but showing Mary Poppins for what is at least the 20th time in BBC One's history doesn't strike me as such an event (as much as I rate Mary Poppins as a classic children's/family film).
