I thought the show was alright. Could've done with making sure the mic was in proper working order, but apart from that ,I thought it was brilliant the way the presenter and the judges sang on stage together. Very clever how they have the team as one artist, and then have the winning team Duke it out against each other for a place in the final. So far, WAY better than The X Factor.
It had a good atmosphere about it and the judges seemed like they wanted to be there unlike other shows. I think there had to be some X Factor tropes but only because it would be pedestrian and bland without them.
An issue with the format is that multiple performances pretty much excludes artists that have had just one or two notable songs and needing three people, all singing the same songs no less, means the overall quality drops. Some voices are better suited to certain songs.
There's probably enough there for three or four series without too much repetition, and if the ratings hold up of course.
It did feel a little too overproduced yet the studio itself felt a bit 'bare', I couldn't quite put my finger on it - perhaps due to the low scale audience with it being filmed when a lot of restrictions were still in place
To be honest I spent most of the episode wondering what on earth Olly Murs has done to his hair!
Any news on overnight ratings?
Only seen an unsourced post at DS suggesting 3.9m, which is a pretty decent result really.
Am I right in thinking Olly hosted X Factor for 2015 with the late Caroline Flack, and his presenting did not go down well back then? Wasn't it the one year Dermot O'Leary did not host?
I quite enjoyed it. It was certainly a lot better than Walk The Line.
It was entertaining and wasn't dragged out too long in a 70 minute slot.
I didn't like Olly joining in the performance at the start, thought it should have been just the four judges IMO. Presenters should just stick to the presenting.

Yes and he made a couple of noteable fluffs but felt they were somewhat scapegoats for other issues with the series that year.

Yes he revealed who would be sent home instead of sending it to deadlock.
I really enjoyed it. They could have played on the guessing who they’re going to be part of it. I agree about the crashing in the breaks.
It was fun, and I think it will benefit more from being after Takeaway rather than having just under three hours of singing.
One thing that isn't the focus is the final cash prize and the show is all the better for it. A refreshing change on ITV.
Me and my partner watched last night and were wondering if the contestants are miming as the sound vs vision were slightly out.
3.3m viewers last night so down on last week. Hopefully it stabilizes.

Walk the Line was just so awful. A completely unnecessary large half million pounds for the singer of 1 or 2 mediocre performances that no one even cares or remembers about now.
This show is much better...however the name is a problem/slight niggle for me. 1, I keep thinking of the BBC programme when is see this 'Starstruck' on promos, EPG's etc....and 2, I also keep thinking of 'Starbucks' too...
Something Like 'Triple take' or a play on the word Three would be better....
