Not really sure why they're replacing Inside Out as a brand name even with the change in format. It worked well as a brand - somehow summed up the concept at the same time as being completely meaningless too.
Will be interesting to see what content the new show covers - to me "We are England" suggests it's more about meeting people and telling their stories rather than covering regional current affairs.
I've just thought. Is this programme being played out by one region to all taking that edition, delivered to each region to be played out individually or can it be player out centrally to all relevant regions more like the ITV mechanism?

If it's like Inside Out, Network would alternate between the regions, so that they didn't need the local playout, so if for example the South East is played from Red Bee, they didn't require someone in the TW gallery to opt-out and play the episode.
My guess is the hub base will playout their edition, with the neighbouring regions taking a feed as they do for pan-regional bulletins.
In the case of London, it may be that they do the split playout from the gallery where they playout one edition that goes out on network and another for the London/SE/South. When BBC One had 8pm heads, there was a video showing how they played out network weather, while also broadcasting the BBC London segment live.

With all BBC English regional opting now being centralised at the CCMs centres (since last summer) then regional cluster playout could be (technically) possible. For instance something played out by say Leeds, could also be routed to the NE and NW regions. Rather like the 'buddy' arrangements when the CCMs get notice that a particular region will be unable to opt
However politics and contractual issues might impede that idea, the CCM operations are not really routine 'playout' operations

They're just doing what BBC One HD did with Inside Out and Politics (add region here) by alternating regions being played by network, so Newcastle won't have to opt-out to play their own edition.
Sky Glass viewers should have their own pan-regional edition on BBC One HD.
So the Beeb is going the same was As ITV for the South West Viewers with it coming from Bristol, which is a real shame as the BBC Plymouth team & studios could do an amazing Job
Did the Salford and Plymouth editions of Inside Out ever occasionally include content about, respectively, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands?
The very title "We Are England" implies that those non-England areas won't even be editorially considered for inclusion in the new Leeds and Bristol macro-regional programmes, which would rather do a disservice to licence fee payers in those places.
I think that they should occasionally find a way to at least shoehorn a mention of those island states, even if still maintaining an England link.
For example: if discussing ferry services between Liverpool and Douglas etc or whatever (which might form part of an episode about public transport more generally, if there is something to discuss which is comparable to e.g. the Northern Rail timetable debacle or the cancellation of HS2 phase 2).

Although they are the replacement for facilities that could do that (eg Bristol Comms routing Bristol output to Plymouth and Southampton distributions circuits in place of vanilla Net1 so PY and SO galleries didn't need to be staffed) so it might have been factored in if somebody had a bit of foresight?
The only thing that confused me about the RXTV article is how they claim only NE&C has it's own edition when East does as well as the Cambridgeshire sub-opt is part of the East region.
South East Today at lunchtime plugged the pan-regional We are England as the story featured is in their region.
I really wish they called it We are The East or We are The South (for example). The name they've gone with makes no sense for a regional programme. Viewers in Norwich aren't necessarily going to watch the programme for the Midlands, and vice versa. It's just like Oneness all over again.
I'm watching the Bristol edition, via BBC One West SD on Sky.
I presume that the utterly generic wording of the CA was identical for all (macro)-regions. It was the Exmouth lifeguards ident. I wonder whether a geographically appropriate ident was used for each (macro)-region.
BBC1 HD showing the one about cold water swimming - think that was the North East & Cumbria. Not quite sure why that region gets one exclusively to themselves whilst the others are all merged. Are the regions fixed or can there be a bit of flexibility to adjust from show to show as best fits?
