Mediocre really, like many GB News shows let down by the content and so padded with reading out views on whether you've taken down your Christmas decorations or banning fireworks.

I think there's a lack of experience and direction in content, and what is good content, etc. They brought Stephen Dixon and Anne Diamond on for the last 5 minutes to give an insight into what they would be doing at the weekend, but instead, Eamonn spent the time reading out each of their horoscopes from a newspaper, after which they all dished horoscopes and said they were a load of rubbish. Would a good producer/director have had that going out? I don't think so.

Agreed. To me it looks like the presenters are doing what they want to do and they’re lacking guidance and direction from the gallery/management in regards to what makes good content. In fact it felt more like a radio programme than a TV programme at times, which I suppose isn’t a bad thing considering what happens tomorrow.

The hotel reception set was used for a solo interview segment with Eamonn.

I thought the breakfast branding worked well at the Breakfast bar, but the opening titles are Breakfast Time circa 1980s.

That used to be quite common on double headed shows but seems at some point around the turn of the century it was deemed any double act should never be seperated for more than three seconds and even sentences should be split between them.

The titles really do look hideous - something a 9 year old getting their first graphics software could probably knock up on their first attempt.

I think people on here need to just appreciate the fact it’s new. For a first day I was impressed and I’ll be staying tuned. I look forward to how the show evolves over time. Nothing is perfect first time around as we all know but surely it can only get better. Compared to alternative breakfast shows I much prefer GBN Breakfast. The hosts have good connections between them and they’re all experienced pro’s. I’ll eat my hat if I see Kirsty back on GB News. She’s currently on Smooth. She didn’t have anything to offer there at all.

I can only echo what has been said by others. The branding is rather hit-n-miss. Some of it looks quite nice, but it's really let down by the opening titles. And as has already been said, the content is mediocre and seemed to be lacking in any sort of direction.

I quite like the opening titles. Simple but effective. Some say the logo is dated, they’ve clearly tried to go for something retro and it’s subtle enough that I think it works.

Nice to see the breakfast bar back to original use, now that it’s fit for TV.

He has appeared with Eamonn and Isabel when they did Sunrise on Sky so I would imagine there was an established relationship.

It’s clear what they are aiming for here. It’s not intended to be high concept television and I think it achieves its aims very well.

For various reasons, previous iterations of this show have been a big weak spot for the channel. That did baffle me, especially with McCoy and Gallacher as both are great presenters but it just didn’t work. This, I think, will.

It's certainly the most personable duo on breakfast to date. The first incarnation didn't work because they hired too many presenters of which none of them were suitable with the exception of Rosie Wright who had presented a rolling news breakfast programme on Euronews previously.

The second didn't work because Kirsty is simply too sport. There are presenters such as Dan Walker and Sally Nugent over on the Beeb who have made the transition from sport to news seamlessly, but Kirsty I felt only lit up when they were doing a sports story or had a sporting guest on. Simon McCoy to me while fully capable I thought had enough by the time it launched and married his American based partner may have swayed him to leave once his contract was up.

However as mentioned above, GB News now have the right talent at Breakfast, but the inexperience of not having a producer who is capable of producing a slick 3.5 hour show does show. Letting talent go off on tangents to do their own thing rarely works as seen on commercial radio, which is why I think the next change will be to get an experienced producer who knows how to work with the likes of Eamonn Holmes to get the best from him with the right structured format.

Agreed, the endless Zoom chats are just tedious.
Why invest in a team of reporters and not really use them to their potential?

While the Breakfast set looks better; what’s with the BBC Breakfast orange? And vaguely Breakfast Time logo? Bit unoriginal really.

I'm not much of a fan of the titles. It starts of with just a flat design and ends up with the red-orange text on a picture of clouds. The transition between flat graphics and picture feels off and the text looks really cheap slapped on the picture like that.

I’m frankly surprised this is still on air, and that people like Eamonn Holmes (I’m sorry, I don’t know who Isabel is) are still giving it the time of day.

Isabel used to work at Sky News on Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes which is why GB News think that bringing them back together will increase their share during breakfast.
