Have the cuts at BBC regions made things so tight or are there still localised ping issues? It looks like there is a combined BBC London & South East bulletin presented by Leigh Milner who usually works at Look East in Norwich but has reported for BBC News a few times and presented for BBC London at least once before.
I haven’t heard of the pings lately. Could be cuts?
There was another London & South East bulletin from Studio D a few weeks back on a Saturday.
Nothing wrong with the combined London & South East bulletins on the weekends, I'd be in favour of them staying. Generally the weekend news in London is too similar to the national bulletin so is no point watching the London news for local content.

Do the combined bulletins end up focusing a bit more on the South East then? Today's Look East was largely about fuel and I suspect that was common across most regions.

I guess the BBC wouldn't be allowed to pre-record a short bulletin for one of the regions as ITV do. I don't think that should be the norm but acceptable for the shorter bulletins where circumstances force one region to broadcast across two.

Out of interest, what would the be the reason why the BBC wouldn't be allowed to do this? - I thought as long as the BBC provided their quota of news hours they would be fine?
I think a pre-recorded bulletin would be difficult as I bet the real reason for the combined regions is due to a shortage of on the ground reporters

It's only the BBC themselves that don't allow pre recorded news bulletins I think?

The Saturday London bulletin is usually filler VT that was produced in the week.
The good old days were when it was branded as BBC LDN.
On BBC Two during the afternoons on satellite we would seen BBC LDN news and was told to "press TV and button 2, to switch to analogue for your local news".
I know there are people on here who loved the Marylebone High Street era of BBC London, but I couldn't stand the informality, the god awful tri-media branding experiment and the fish bowl in the former Radio Times basement in comparison to Newsroom South East. However I did like the balcony shots for the shorter bulletins at breakfast and lunchtime.
The move to BH, the hiring of Riz Lateef and the bulletin becoming more formal while maintaining that it's still a regional news magazine has made the last decade a much easier watch than the art exhibition era.
