I found a clip of Brendan after the live show finished where he told the audience that the young extras are also his grandchildren.
Any sign of the viewing figures for Fridays episode yet? Will be interesting to see.

Normally when a show goes live there is the added drama of watching to see if anyone messes up, or if there is a miscue, or a camera in shot etc. With MBB they deliberately mess up and leave in the outtakes even in the normal episodes, so what’s the point.
There was one supposed mishap in a scene with Mrs Brown and Winnie last night that seemed to me to be scripted.
Spontaneity requires careful planning!
I would think it’s very much like going to see ‘The play that goes wrong’ or ‘The bank robbery that goes wrong’ - all very well rehearsed and actually quite slick.
Not that I have ever watched more than 5 minutes of MBBs as I didn’t find it funny.
Friday’s episode was watched by 2.6million viewers, according to information from Ratings UK on Twitter. Unsure if that includes iPlayer views.
Now this scene from the 2016 Mrs Brown's Boys Live doesn't look or feel scripted at all and it showed in the ratings the show got during its peak.

It doesn't here, maybe you're getting a lower bitrate stream for some reason.
No confirmation from the BBC, but the tabloids are claiming that MBB will return later this year for a full series with filming at Pacific Quay in April in addition to the festive episodes.
If that's the case, it may be that they're doing these instead of All Round to Mrs Brown's.
Ah, it's the "in addition" bit which is a shame. I've long thought a series would serve it better and they should replace two years of two specials with one six part series.

Well, it's a bit like Only Fools and Horses, in that when it was only specials all the characters had to be in them, regardless of whether they had anything for them to do, so you had to have a Mickey Pearce bit and a Trigger bit and so on. As my friend said at the time of those final specials, it ended up with them just turning up and doing their catchphrases, and so it felt more like an Only Fools and Horses convention rather than an episode. Whereas if you do a series you don't have to have every character in every episode, and you don't have to shoehorn every bit of business or topical reference you've come up with in a single episode as well.
So, yeah, there is the scope for some slightly more subtle bits when you have a full series. With emphasis on the "slightly".
The problem with also doing Christmas specials is that one of the two episodes has to be Christmas themed, so the majority of casual viewers just see a similar themed episode once a year, followed by a new year episode which if they were doing a series would have been written for that.
Now I think if it's confirmed to be true is that Brendan's production company owes the BBC six episodes of All Round to Mrs Brown's which was cancelled due to Covid. Now they probably went to the Beeb and suggested they film a standard series of MBB instead.
It could help to revitalise the show as there's still potential with the writing as one of the two 2021 specials was pretty good or sink it. However I think there's still something in the chat show format which is a shame they're not doing it.
To be fair, being set at Christmas doesn't mean they HAVE to be Christmas themed, most of the OFAH and One FootbIn The Grave ones aren't for example, and around half of the Summer Wine ones were just episodes either held back from the previous series or taken from the upcoming one (which meant in the 2002 one, we had a scene with Entwhistle before we actually saw the episode where he was introduced).
On a related note, I noticed they've bought out a Blu-Ray of the 1985-89 OFAH specials, which includes the uncut versions of A Royal Flush and Jolly Boys Outing, as well as them having done HD remasters on the film inserts that still exist. I'm not 100% sure if I should buy it, as it's expensive, but the butchered and laugh track'd version of A Royal Flush is terrible and the cut in the Jolly Boys Outing has always annoyed me. What we need now is a proper release of Miami Twice, as the version of that out on DVD is also a mess. Not to mention the awful cover of Our House on Time In Our Hands.
Though to be fair at least the BBC made some effort in clearing music for DVD release. CBS for example don't even try- the Sabrina The Teenage Witch DVDs are a mess of cut scenes and elevator music dubbed on, other shows they've released have been just as bad.
