I do like the new branding though!
No word or teaser promo for the EMAs, which are supposed to be in the Hungarian capital of Budapest this year.
Hoping the EMAs will happen, live or virtual like last year.
Hard to describe without the means to capture it properly, but from comparing how the normal version works, the countdown graphics seem a little 'broken'. They appear pretty much at the start of the video, not having the 10ish second delay until they appear, then at the end of the video the song title doesn't reappear until the video has finished, which means it either momentarily clashes with the next song title (such as now where it has actually removed the correct song title and redisplayed the previous one), or when going to a break it animates over it.
Also unlike the normal graphics, the layout doesn't alternate the artist with the song title, instead displaying both over the one line with a dash sepearating the two (something that has been creeping in with MTV's graphic packages).
Had a flick through the channels and this honestly looks so much better than what they were using previously - some of the colour combinations on the previous graphics were ghastly.
Nice evolution of the brand, though I assume the US channel still shows Ridiculousness practically all of the time.
The new look has launched but appears differently depending on the channel.
They all now have the new logo, though up until about 20 minutes ago MTV Music was still using the old logo. There appear to be two versions of the song title graphics and it depends on the video/channel to which one is being used. One has the artist and song name appearing beside each other with a dash between and stays on screen for around 5 seconds. The other has the artist name appear for about 1 second, then gets covered with the song name for around 5 seconds. I imagine this is some form of timing error which hopefully gets noticed and corrected in the next few days. Not holding my breath though.
The main MTV channel have their programme promos in the top right and in a larger text compared to the other channels where is is smaller and beside the MTV logo.
On MTV Classic the song title graphics are not timed properly with the video - the intro graphic appears too late into the song and the outro graphic appears after the video has ended and the next one has already started.
Now, if we could get MTV to stop cropping 4:3 videos and bump the bit rate as despite having far less channels on the transponder now., everything still looks horribly blocky.
MTV Brazil is yet to get the new logo and graphics (not sure if the rest of Latin America already has them), I think they'll wait until September 23rd, when the Brazilian edition of MTV MIAW (MTV Latin America's annual awards show) will be held (the edition for the Spanish-speaking countries happened last month).
Can someone record MTV Music, MTV Base and MTV Classic idents? I can only find MTV Hits and MTV Live on youtube.

Earlier today they actually had a show presented by Suggs with the best songs of 1988 and those videos were properly pillarboxed... though somehow they managed to filmise them even though Suggs's links were in 50i, so they still didn't get it right.
Does mtv still come from tv-am studios?
