For completeness, here is the full bulletin.

A minor point re the rememberance programme on the BBC News Channel: earlier they were struggling with the victims' names on subtitles, seemingly trying to type/re-speak each one as they were being read out. This led to a number of subtitling errors.

Now the names appear instantly each in a block as they are being read so the official list (and order) must've been fed into a system at some point. It now looks much more professional, and is keeping pace correctly.

The pace also gives the sequence real impact and power which you just don't get with the current headlines. I'm not one for 'things were better...', but the ever increasing length of BBC headline sequences adds nothing and, if anything, diminishes the point in them. No more than a few seconds a story, no rhetorical questions, ditch the regional news teaser (except maybe on the Six).

It's also a bit of a shame with the current titles, which share that urgent pace of the old headline sequences. They'd carry much more of a punch with a tighter intro.

I agree with all of the comments regarding the length of the headlines as they are now over two minutes long on the main BBC bulletins such as the 1,6 and 10 and that is too long in my opinion.

Interesting to note that the weather forecasts on Sky News have not had the usual Qatar Airways sponsorships today for obvious reasons. It appears that Al Jazeera also dropped a lot of their weather sponsor bumpers too, but not all...

Definitely, and so much better for it. The whole opening of that bulletin from the headlines to the intro to the overview to the James Robbins package is a masterclass in my view. Somehow it feels when there are big stories now, that’s what you get from ITV rather than the BBC. I suspect it’s the focus on ‘the bulletins’ as distinct from rolling coverage.

These days you’d have a soundbite from Bush, a soundbite from Blair, a live insert from a reporter, and the usual ‘We’ll be asking…’ line which is more like a preview rather than a headline

Not news-related but the 9/11 20th anniversary was held in the same day as Last Night of The Proms, so BBC Proms has included a new arrangement of Adagio for Strings previously conducted by American-born Leonard Stalkin in 2001 to honor the victims of the attack. The conductor is Sakari Oramo.

If we're talking about musical broadcasts in memory of what happened on that dreadful day, I feel the need to share this piece, written by Peter Skellern and sung by Libera. This concert was broadcast on PBS back in 2015.

The song was originally intended to commemorate those lost in conflict. However, the songwriter has also dedicated the song to those who died on September 11th.
