Just going through my Sky Q box tonight to find something to watch and because I watched The Story of Late Night today it is suggesting I view something called ‘BBC 2 ident Sept 18’. I’ve now downloaded this and it is a two second BBC2 ident.

Why is this in the system and are there any more somewhere??
This isn't unique to Sky Q, it happens on Sky+HD as well. I think its a quirk of the on-demand system. Pretty sure the generic BBC ident is there too:

Isn't that an old ident? We saw the current one on air when Prince Philip died. Of course that one will be obsolete in two months too.
The ident with the BBC logo in gold on a blue background used for Prince Philip’s death was previously available to download on Sky Q a few years ago under the name ‘Event Safe Ident’. There was also another one on there with a purple background which I don’t think has ever been broadcast.

I think the ident above was used on the BBC Three stream when it closed, and has also been seen when some feeds have gone down in the nations’ continuity.
Actually this came up here:

And back then the BBC Two ident was the Silk one, presumably that's still the case with this.

Looks like I managed to spark an argument with my "expires in 2038" comment on that thread...

Isn’t that the network ident when everything goes bellies up ?
Perhaps an unpopular opinion: I’ve always found that ribbon animation above poor, execution-wise. The ribbons don’t feel very ‘flowing’, and at times just seem to be two static shapes moving sideways, if that makes sense. Not a very exciting opinion, it doesn’t really matter, but there we go.

No, that's what a blank screen is for. Wink
