Quote:BBC Radio 1's drivetime host Nick Grimshaw is leaving the station after 14 years.
Vick Hope and Jordan North will co-host a new drivetime show on the network.
Nick Grimshaw said: "My childhood dream was to work on Radio 1 and I have been lucky enough to make that dream come true.
"But over the last few months I've been doing a lot of thinking about my future.
"I've made the decision that it's time for me to move on."
His last show will be on 12 August and Vick and Jordan's first show will broadcast on 6 September.

To be fair, after Annie Mac's departure, I suspected that Grimmy's departure would be a matter of time
Been expecting this for a few years but still somewhat sad nonetheless. Jordan and Vick should be good though!

Sad for the BBC, certainly...
He must have something lined up to go to, when other BBC presenters have left in recent years the announcement from their new employer has followed fairly quickly

I saw somebody on Twitter saying that Global Radio may have pitched him, just like they pitched MistaJam. If that turns out to be true then fair play to Global!

Certainly Chris Evans, Eddie Mair and Graham Norton spring to mind, as they announced their new gigs very shortly after saying they’re leaving the BBC. Can’t see Grimshaw going to Virgin, but Capital or Heart may be possible.
If not, GB News?
Scott Mills still hanging on then, though they did have him standing in for Ken Bruce on Radio 2 recently.
Glad Jordan North gets a weekday slot and be interesting to see how he works with Vick Hope. For me Nick was the weak link of the daytime line up, whilst Clara Amfo leaves a big hole in the morning with her move to evenings. I'm guessing they'll line up all these changes to probably take place at the same time, possibly September now.
Jordan and Vick start on 6th September, Dean starts on 10th September. I’d assume Clara and RMC will start on the 6th as well. Interim cover (I’m assuming Jack Saunders) will be from 15th to 2nd September.
Global Radio have very deep pockets, and Nick would be a perfect fit for either Capital, Heart or Radio X.

Would he though?
On Capital or Heart he’d presumably have to settle for London only drive or daytime slot and the format is going to be very different. I don’t think he’s on brand for Radio X at all. I’m sure he’ll find a gig, but I’m not sure anyone will be that desperate to sign him. I’m sure it was more a case of Radio 1 rejiging the schedule rather than him being poached for a big money deal.

They could offer him the 10.00am networked mid morning on Heart - three hours on a weekday or he might prefer not doing a weekday programme, and settle into the weekend.
Maybe Gogglebox just pays really well.

Hold on a second, I thought that the London only drive or daytime slot is also available nationwide on the national feeds of Capital and Heart
