Here's a neat cover of the show's theme song by Kids Now (The CRS Players).

That’s the version Greg James used on his radio show. Sounds almost like the real thing.

I never knew that. I listened to it on YouTube just to make sure it was the cover and it was.
Used to love watching this. Why Bird was my favourite! Didnt like a Thursday with the Patch Stop. I think Peggy Patch didnt have a voiceover until much later in the series?
The composer of the Playdays theme Richard Brown repurposed it for a children's reading scheme called "Marco the Malta Bus" - bizarre.

That's up there with that slightly disturbing Rainbow redux GMTV had.

For some reason when growing up I never liked the Patch Stop!

I’ve recently been re-watching Playdays episodes that have been uploaded to YouTube and I think the Roundabout Stop episodes with Andy Hockley as Mr Jolly were the best, but I’d love to know who provided the voice of Rosie during the Andy Hockley era as I don’t think they were ever credited!
I loathed the original Patch stop, with the mute puppet, and lots of worthy plants and animals and walking in the countryside , and nice children in wellies. I hated it almost as much as the Dot stop.
In this interview with Ian Lauchlan, he mentions how when he became series producer during the show's final years, he created The Poppy Stop in 1995 to replace The Tent Stop, which was where Poppy made her debut the year prior, when Peggy Patch also started having speaking roles in The Patch Shop, performed by Sally Preisig.

Patch Stop was so boring. The puppets were very kind I remember but I think taking it out of the studio out distance between it and the other four stops.
