Terrible news. Rest in peace.

Upsetting news.

First came across him as the hotel inspector - sorry, spoon salesman - in Fawlty Towers and am more recently familiar with him in his capacity as Wilf in Doctor Who - a role he was photographed filming for just a month or two ago.

Seemed to be a gem of a man behind the scenes, too, judging by interviews I've seen with him, and with those with whom he worked.

A real loss, and very sad.

For me and my generation, Bernard will always be Mr Jackanory.

May he rest in peace and I'm hoping that next year's 60th anniversary special will end with a tribute to him since he had shot scenes for it prior to his passing.

He was working to the end. He's due to appear again as Wilf in Doctor Who's three specials starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate next year. He was seen on set, in a wheelchair. I hope he got to finish his work for those. And I assume Jodie's final episode this autumn will be dedicated to him.

Terribly sad news. Bernard Cribbins was a true British legend. Particularly loved his performance in Doctor Who. He made Wilfred the loveable character he was. Rest in Peace.

That is such a shame, he has been involved in so many different things - one of the most versatile presenters out there

I'll never forget this iconic moment from "The End of Time" when Wilf salutes the Tenth Doctor just before the latter regenerates.
