ITV Evening News currently on the air, just.

Sounds like issues with the studio.

Full titles played at the start of the bulletin but with just a sting for music, and no studio shots. Very impressive how quickly they managed to get on-air in the circumstances.
Another victim of this heatwave
Even the lifts have stopped working

Reports are playing out as normal and graphics seem to be ok.
Lucrezia is coping very well (not that I'd expect she wouldn't). Explainer graphics are working and despite the single face-on shot I doubt many would notice things have gone pear shaped, except the awkward open.
The vast majority of things seem to be back to normal. They are in the usual studio
They've now got the pther cameras up and running for Chris Choi in the studio.
I assume ITV London took the hit so ITV Evening News could air as normal as possible.

Don't think so, they both share the same studio so most likely had the same issue.
Gather from other posts here that London fell off air with sound issues and switched to Meridian.
No clue if this relates to the issue, but the lifts have been out most of today.
To be hoped they don't need to decamp to Leeds again, the train service is ever so slightly knackered at the moment Smile
Maybe ITV News need to think of building another news studio at ITN. They really only have three studios, Studio 1, 2 and 6. They really need an alternative studio, to help cope with these issues.

Well a nice close for the Evening News, no problems there with the ending.

No, they don't.

No, they don't.
And why not? One extra studio can help with other programmes, or can be rented out.

If they required an extra studio they would have one. If they rented out an extra studio how exactly would that be useful to ITV News when they've got no idea when the programme's going to fail? What if there's an external client using it at that time? And how would it be in anyway more usable than the C5 News set which is standing unused at that time?

They're not going to build one for the extremely rare occasions that their programme falls off the air. They managed to get on air successfully with just minutes to spare so why would they need another studio? The last time a major outage happened they successfully decamped to Leeds so why would they need another one in London? Your argument makes no sense.
