You (as a viewer) have to be in it from the start (or sit through repeated hosts reminders) of the episode to understand there are wrong answers deliberately put in. If you don't, you start swearing at the standard of question setting and switch over to something else.
Also, Rick is now presenter of Five Live Breakfast, so even if they commissioned a new 30-50 show run of Impossible, even with the industrial churn out of daytime gameshows, it would still take him away from it for 3-5 weeks, if recorded in one tx block recording up in Glasgow.
A moot point perhaps, but if !mpossible did come back, I don't think the breakfast gig would stop him recording - it didn't ever stop Jeremy Vine on Eggheads and he was on Radio 2 daily. In fact still is for both, although less episodes per year now Eggheads is on C5
I agree that Impossible never seemed to quite hit the big time. The variable afternoon time slot isn’t great, and the last COVID series where they hardly had any contestants which compromised the format wasn’t great. Shame they couldn’t have done another series with the full number of contestants again.

The fact that ‘impossible’ answers are put in is pretty much apparent after every question. I think anyone who watched five minutes of it would get the concept.
I also don’t think the Rick Edwards now being on 5 Live stops any future series happening. Considering he could either take the extra time off, they could move it to Salford or he could present his 5 Live show from Glasgow when he’s recording it. Failing all that they could change the presenter!

Regarding House of Games being a replacement for Pointless, the primetime version on BBC1 flopped. Part of the problem is that it doesn't look like a BBC1 show and everybody sitting down makes it stuffy and proper. The prizes are naff and I think changing over to cash amounts would kill the camaraderie so best to leave it where it is.

The issue with House of Games Night is that it's not different enough from the daytime version whereas I think a public spin-off would actually could be quite fun and you could even keep the naff prizes as I'm sure people would want their very own HOG decanter or suitcase.

The primetime version flopped because if anything it was a scaled down version of it with a bit of window dressing. Plus it doesn't work as well weekly as daily. I think using three Celeb Couples would differentiate it more.
I don't think 5.30 BBC1 is a much different audience to 6pm BBC2, but we're clearly at the very least 2 years off Pointless ending and by then House of Games would probably be heading in the same direction anyway.
I think there's some truth in what you both say but for anyone who hadn't watched HOG going into Night, it would have looked out of place right away and had they stayed to find out it was some quirky gameshow with naff prizes (which isn't a bad thing in itself - just not good for that slot on BBC1), they would have decided not to bother again. Try and make it considerably different from the daytime version, the show would lose its charm.
The timeslot also seemed a bit of an issue, it was on just 2 hours after the BBC Two show! Think it might’ve say better on a Saturday evening, maybe at 45 minutes.

Blankety Blank did rather well and the prizes aren't exactly life changing.

30 minutes is the sweet spot for the show, it would drag at 45 minutes.

True but it's less game, more humour, flashier and crap prizes are part of the show's history.
