Sian has just announced her departure from 5 News.

I imagine Claudia-Liza will just go solo. Are they still persisting with the 5Phone nonsense?

Good for her! She's excelling in her other work. I'm pleased for her, it's just a loss for news broadcasting. She was one of my favourite presenters when she was at BBC News. Good Luck Sian.
I wonder if we'll see Matt Barbet join the 5 News team for the 3rd time?
i love the certainty with which forumers conclude it’ll go back to 1 presenter- it’s clear they now need two with this longer format. Also it seems a very different, much newsier programme now to when Matt presented it. Had completely forgotten about him tbh, and the weird era when he was the warm-up on the Aled version of Daybreak.
That's sad news for Channel 5, hoping all the best for her, in whatever she does next.

I wonder if Channel 5 picks someone from the BBC to replace her, or anyone who's recently left the BBC might be open to it, I think they are going to want to keep the hour long newscast co-anchored, I feel.
They have form for poaching from elsewhere, usually people whose profile is on the rise. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Victoria Derbyshire was top of their list.

In some ways I hope they promote CL as she is a phenomenal anchor, and maybe promote someone else to take her spot such as Dani Sinha who has also proven a good presenter of the summaries.

or people who are well-known (usually BBC) who have admittedly peaked like Sian. Louise Minchin would perhaps be a strong contender?
I just hope that when Sian leaves the Director decides to do away with the ridiculous angle during the opening sequence.

Can't imagine Louise wanting to do another news programmes.

I'd say they would love to have her, but I doubt she'd want to leave The BBC. Right now Victoria seems to be proving a very flexible presenter and I would say it won't be long before she starts becoming very prominent
Victoria has a strong chance of hosting Newsnight I’d say
